STOCKIST FEATURE // UNBRIDALED BOUTIQUE

We love our stockists!

MWL has stockists all over the globe and we want to give our MWL girls a chance to get to know them better.

This week we heard from Unbridaled Boutique in Ayr, UK, our exclusive MWL stockist in Scotland.

What inspired you to go into the bridal industry?

Unbridaled was probably my millionth business idea since graduating, when I realised that no employer was going to give me the autonomy to be myself or more crucially, take holiday leave whenever I wanted. 😂

When I started researching, nearly a decade ago, there was nothing like us in the country, let alone my area. Pinterest had just exploded onto the scene with beautiful images of ‘here’s what you could have IF you lived in another country!’ Which is basically the story of our life in Scotland.

Plenty of boutiques carried the odd brave or bolder design amongst their ‘bread and butter’ styles that got people in the door, but I didn’t want to be like that. I wanted all killer, no filler! So we only carry non traditional, cool bridal styles, like MWL!

Scotland has always been a little more traditional compared to London etc. There was no pent up demand for what we were offering. It took time to spread awareness that yes there were alternatives and yes, you could actually try them on in Scotland! So the first few years were slow but soon word and our reputation spread and we became the go to boutique for modern brides the length and breadth of the country.

Tell us a bride memory that always brings a smile to your face.

While I cannot deny that this is a highly demanding job, where nothing less than perfection is acceptable and tactically dealing with body image worries and navigating, sometimes delicate, circumstances surrounding appointments, can be really stressful. The rewards are most definitely worth it. The joy of seeing someone find ‘the one’ is something that has never faded, even after all this time.

What gets you most excited to go to work each day?

Trying on all the newest styles, getting creative with photoshoots and making daft TikToks keep every day different and interesting. While running our Instagram is a full-time job in itself; inspiration, recommendations and advice, putting anxious brides at ease via DMs. Topped off with the best part of it all, sharing our brides wedding pics. Seeing all the smiles that we had a tiny part in helping create, nothing beats it!

What’s one piece of advice you give to every bride?

My number one tip for brides is ‘the one’ is a feeling, not a photo! So put the damn phones away. Live in the moment, not through a lens. If you can’t trust your own two eyes, how you feel inside and the opinions of those you carefully chose to accompany you, then you got issues girl! How you feel is just as important, if not more than how you look. And phone photos don’t capture feelings, they capture double chins, insecurities and deceiving shadows! It’s far too long and important a day to base decisions on dodgy phone pics based on a millisecond of time. The only picture you need, is one in our fabulous yes to the dress throne.

What’s one moment in your career in bridal that you’ll never forget?

There’s been countless unforgettable moments over the years, your first award nomination or magazine feature are always exciting, getting the keys to the shop and buying the domain name are etched in my memory forever. But I think my favourite achievement so far, was finding ‘the one’ for all 3 sisters in one family. We have had 2 sisters in the past, but last year we scored the treble! This kind of trust and familiarity isn’t common as it’s not really a repeat business kind of industry.

“Seeing all the smiles that we had a tiny part in helping create, nothing beats it!”

If you were choosing a MWL dress for your big day, which one would you pick?

If I were getting married (HELLO JASON IF YOU ARE READING THIS, WE AIN’T GETTING ANY YOUNGER!) I would probably wear Ryder Crepe. The deep plunge makes me feel tall and elegant (at 5ft nothing that’s no mean feat!) and I have one of those figures that instantly looks better with a belt. I like the less is more look, so I’d probably ditch the veil and pair it with statement earrings and fabulous shoes.

What makes your team stand out from the crowd?  Tell us about them!

Jen just recently joined the team, which until then was a one woman show. I’m still getting used to delegating, but luckily Jen vlogs in her part time and is studying fashion at uni, so hit the ground running. She has a great attitude and is particularly obsessed with MWL!!

We love working with Made With Love and feel very privileged to have them exclusively for Scottish brides.
