Our Creative Director and Founder, Carla Jenkins caught up with Forever Soles to discuss our new collection, In the Name of Love and what inspires her to keep designing.

WHAT TIPS DO YOU HAVE FOR FUTURE BRIDES WHEN CHOOSING THE DRESS?

Do your research online! Chose the closest people to you when going to your appointment who want the best dress for you. Don’t over think it, chose a dress that gives you the shivers and watery eyes. Your husband to be is marrying YOU, so make sure you feel comfortable and you with the design you chose as your wedding dress.

DOES MWL HAVE A SIGNATURE STYLE?

Yes MWL does have a signature style. We are all about fitted comfortable dresses with a stretch jersey underlay, low backs and plunging necklines. I think you can tell a MWL design a mile away!

TELL US A BIT ABOUT THE DESIGN PROCESS?

We take our brides feedback and opinions very seriously. We design our dress for the typical MWL bride so her input is very important to us. Once I have designed the dress, chosen the lace, the lace edging, designed the delicate bodices and details, I have seamstresses and beaded specialists who assist me with each dress. We trial the dresses and have focus group sessions with girls who give us their raw feedback. I want a dress that compliments every body type so adjust the design according to this feedback. A dress takes from 6-12 months to perfect.

FROM THE NEW COLLECTION, IN THE NAME OF LOVE, WHICH ONE IS YOUR FAVOURITE?

I honestly can’t chose my favourite dress in my new ‘In the Name of Love’ collection. I know that sounds silly, but I love every single dress. If I had to get married today and chose a dress, right now, I would go with River. Her soft 3 tiered tulle skirt and hand beaded lace bodice is honestly breathtaking.

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT YOUR JOB?

My highlight of my job is seeing brides fall in love with my new design. I love seeing brides faces when they chose ‘the one’. I love creating each design and every process that goes with it. I love styling the models and directing the editorials. There is so much to my job that I love and I honestly feel like the luckiest girl alive to live my dream every single day with my dream team.

WHERE CAN OUR BRIDES FIND YOU AND WHAT’S NEXT FOR MWL?

We have just opened two new boutiques in Melbourne, Victoria and London UK. Our next project is creating my dream office and boutique space. We have found the space and now the fun begins! We are hoping to move in by December this year. My vision is arched doorways, concrete walls and a Moroccan luxe minimal vibe.
