Hello May feature: Chloe & Mark // MWL Bella

Chloe & Mark’s, well, mainly Chloe’s, only regret for their industrial-style “New York” themed wedding was not hiring a jumping castle, which means their day was pretty darn fantastic if somewhat lacking in bounces. With a quirky venue, lads in green velvet suits and burgeoning blooms by the good folk at Pomp & Spenldour, details were well taken care of, and that’s not to mention the solid tunes provided by Melbourne Entertainment Company, some of the raddest music makers going around. Scroll down for more delish details, and to take a peep at Cam of Anchor & Hope Photography’s sweet, sweet snaps…

THE VENUE “It actually wasn’t our first choice. We initially chose to have the wedding at The Farm Cafe in Collingwood. We loved the vibes at the farm with the animals running around and everything. However, we ultimately decided it was not really our style. We are more contemporary, “New York” kind of people. We spoke to The Farm Cafe about our options, after paying a deposit, and they kindly informed us we could retain them as caterers and move to an affiliated venue, which then led us to come across The Substation. We immediately knew it was the one. The dramatic high ceilings and industrial feel made us sure it was more in line with our style. It was great that we could also hire the whole three-story venue and allow our guests the opportunity to walk through their exhibit during cocktail hour.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “We hand wrote all 101 guests a little memory and thank you card, to leave at their seat. We, unfortunately, didn’t get to see everyone’s reaction reading them but were told it was a nice emotional touch. We wanted everyone to draw on sentimental experiences to evoke nice, happy memories before we were announced back into the reception as husband and wife. It also saved us time doing it after the honeymoon!”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “Mark wrote me a letter to read in the morning as I was getting ready. It was a beautiful surprise. I thought I had got all my tears out for the day until I saw him at the other end of the aisle and they magically reappeared!”

LITTLE LOL “I had a few too many champagnes on the day and by about 9.30 pm I was barefoot on the dancefloor in my strapless bridal jumpsuit when my chicken fillets came loose. Instead of quickly poking them back in, I flung them around and then on the ground! My new husband looked on in disbelief – welcome to marriagehood!”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Don’t take it too seriously. Yes, it’s an important day in your life but it isn’t your whole life. It won’t change your relationship, it merely celebrates it. Do what you want to do and don’t break the bank doing so. Life is too full of adventure to kick start your marriage with debt from your wedding.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Kat, our lovely Celebrant [The Celebrandt], was definitely a standout. She has a natural talent for officiating weddings. Cam [Anchor & Hope Photography], our wonderful last-minute photographer was a legend. His professionalism and experience really stood out on the day.”
