Zandri + Zander

How did you meet?

The details are fuzzy, but we met sometime in high school, through our families. I used to work at Pizza Hut with Zander’s brother, but as Zander was a few years older than us, we weren’t really friends. It wasn’t until Christmas time of 2020 that we walked into each other at church as grown-ups, after graduating uni. Zander made a joke about how our names were similar and about how his family loved me, and asked me out for coffee.

When did you know they were the one?

I knew pretty much after the first date that he was the one, but with Zander living in the Gold Coast and I living in Adelaide, I didn’t really know how it could work. After texting back and forth for a few months, I ended up visiting him and his sister the following February (2021). After our second date (which consisted of me accompanying him to the dentist to have his wisdom teeth removed) I knew I had to lock him down. So, I decided to move to the Gold Coast permanently. We started dating a month later, engaged a year later (2022) and married another year after that!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

. He is not afraid to be a little goofy, and always has encourages me to be silly too.
2. He’s the kindest and most selfless person I’ve ever met.
3. He was so involved in the wedding planning – loves to plan things with me 🙂

Who proposed and how?

Zander proposed in April 2022. We were both working difficult hours (he was working night shift and I was working early shifts). One night while he was on night shift, he suggested we go watch the sunrise at Mt Tamborine the next morning before I started work. I think I knew he was gonna propose, I was so excited! Once we got there, he dropped down on one knee and asked me to marry him!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I actually fell in love with Elsie while I was scrolling on your Instagram, around the time you released her. It was before Zander even proposed, but as soon as I saw it, I just KNEW Elsie was gonna be my wedding dress! I then went to try on some dresses at your Gold Coast showroom. Elsie was the first dress I tried on, and that sealed the deal for me! She was stunning!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

We did our own personal vows, privately, after the ceremony. That was such an awesome and intimate moment, with just the two of us. So grateful we got to do that!

What were your favorite details?

Ahhh I don’t even know what to pick! Perhaps that we did personalised thank you cards for each person on the back of their menus. That felt really special! We also did a telephone guest book, where people left voice messages. It was so nice to be able to hear their voices back! And then there were the bows on my dress, they were stunning!

What advice would you tell other brides?

Make sure to take some couple of time away from wedding planning, as it’s so easy to get caught up in the stress of it all. We did weekly date nights where we strictly didn’t talk about the wedding at all, which really helped.

Another piece of advice is to have a private last dance at the end of the night. While all of our guests were outside getting ready for the sparkler exit, we remained inside and had a private dance. This allowed us to really take in all of the emotion from the day and really celebrate that we GOT MARRIED! It was so special
