Vivien + Dylan
How did you meet?
We are a hinge success story!
When did you know they were the one?
A running theme after our first few dates was how easy it was to be around one another. Neither of us had experienced this kind of ease and connection with other relationships, so we pretty much knew from early on we were each others ‘one’.
What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?
His dad jokes, how loyal and caring he is and that he makes me feel loved every single day.
Who proposed and how?
Dylan disguised the proposal during his birthday long weekend. He organised a staycation in Melbourne, CBD. When we checked in to the hotel, we went upstairs and once I got ready I turned around and he passed me a necklace box as a ‘thank you’ gift. When I opened it, it had an ‘A’ initial (his last name is Anderson). I was a little confused at this point and thats when he got down on one knee. I can’t tell you what he said for that minute as I completed blacked out from shock (I was not expecting it AT ALL). But of course my answer was yes. We spent that night recreating one of our first dates, dinner by the yarra followed by a game of Holey Moley mini-golf.
Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?
When I first started looking, I was targeted with ads and my Instagram explore page was filled with dresses. I saw the Huxley Flowy and was instantly in love and it was the very first dress I screenshot and saved, I also saved the Huxley fitted once I saw that was an option as well. I tried on at least 16 dresses before my appointment at Made With Love and I just knew none of them were right. When I tried on the Huxley fitted, I knew it was the one instantly. I always imagined I’d have a plain dress with no lace, but Huxley changed my mind and made me feel beautiful on the day!
What was the best moment for you at your wedding?
Overall the feeling. I felt extremely nervous leading up to the day, but I was overcome with such calmness on the day knowing I was going to celebrate with the love of my life and all our closest friends and family. You get a lot of advice to take it all in and that it’s such a special day and I really feel like I soaked it all up and made the most of it.
What were your favourite details?
After the wedding, all our friends and family loved how ‘Viv and Dyl’ our wedding was. It was the small things about us that we included that were my favourite details. Like an Aperol Wall Seating Chart because I love Aperols; the North Melbourne song playing in the toilets because that’s who we barrack for in the Australian Football League; two cocktails being named after our dogs, ‘Fred’-groni and Espresso ‘Walt’-ini; tequila shots on entry for all guests because our first date was at a mexican restaurant.
What advice would you tell other brides?
You get a lot of advice from people before your big day, usually it’s “the day goes so fast, take it all in”. I agree with that, and I would say to make sure every half an hour or whenever you can, just stop; look around, take a big deep breath and take a mental snapshot of what is happening in that moment. I did this throughout the whole day and I really feel like I can say it felt like a long day because of it.
Any standout vendors?
We got married at The Wool Mill, in Brunswick East, Melbourne Australia. This venue is run by a company called Nudo Events. From the minute we went to our first viewing we knew The Wool Mill was the one. Nudo Events is all inclusive – from planning, styling, flowers, photographer, videographer, catering etc. Every single supplier we used through Nudo Events were AMAZING.
On the day, a standout would be our photographer and videographer. You spend so much time with them and get quite intimate so having the two suppliers we had made our day feel so easy and natural
