Tijan + Henry

How did you meet?

My husband and I met almost 11 years ago at college, true childhood sweethearts! I remember the first day I locked eyes with him, we were outside Tesco, of all places and it was his birthday so everyone was saying happy birthday to him. From that moment on the rest is history. He proposed to me last June and we were engaged for exactly 1 year and 1 month.

When did you know they were the one?

Probably a year or so into our relationship, we were so young, and people used to say to us “How do you know” and we just knew, it felt right. But we also never put any pressure on it, we enjoyed each other’s company and we were attracted to one another, and the moment that changed we knew it wasn’t meant to be, but that’s never happened and now almost 11 years later, we are newlyweds.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His kindness, his patience (mainly for me), and his ability to make everyone feel so welcome and at ease. He’s a true gentleman.

Who proposed and how?

Henry proposed first. It was getting the time in our relationship when I knew it was going to happen at some point and so did everyone else so the element of surprise seemed like it wasn’t going to be there, but he totally nailed it, and I didn’t expect it at all!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

Ava Louise in Southampton, UK

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Walking down the aisle and seeing my husband.

What were your favorite details?

My dress, the back!

The wedding day – the handwritten place cards and attention to detail on so much, myself and my family did a lot of the deco as we wanted it to feel really personal.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Relax, it will be perfect, the more your stress and overthink things, the less things will feel like you as a couple. Your wedding day is about the love you two have for one another and family and friends coming together to celebrate that, so remember to stay true to yourselves.

Any Standout vendors?

Laura Dean photography was amazing, nothing else to really add but she’s quite simply the best!

Flower press florist creating the most amazing arrangements, I wanted it to feel like someone had picked the flowers that morning from the garden, and it felt exactly like that.

Forkingout catering also served the most incredible food and their staff was incredible and so attentive.
