Tessa & Colton

How did you meet?

Colton and I both moved to Washington, D.C. and didn’t know anyone in our new city. A mutual friend from home gave us each others’ contact info and suggested we be friends. We met on the Fourth of July and watched fireworks together. That friendship sparked into something more as we explored our city together!

When did you know he was the one?

I knew he was the one when he showed me just how supportive he is. I am a Certified Child Life Specialist, so I work in children’s hospitals and help families navigate the emotional aspect of having a child in the hospital. After a particularly hard day at work with a child who had passed away, Colton knew just what I needed to help me cope with my tasking job. He listened to me and made me feel important, validated me, then recognized what I needed to feel better even when I couldn’t. He took me on a bike ride through our beautiful city and made me feel so special.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with my dress at Lovely Bride in Washington, D.C. I have always been interested in unique things, and I would say I try to avoid typical and ordinary. When I saw the Sienna gown for the first time, I absolutely loved it. It was the first dress I tried on and I loved that it was unlike any other dress I had seen, but still classic and elegant. I thought it was the perfect blend with the beautiful, intricate lace on the bodice with the classic french crepe skirt. I loved that it seemed to shimmer when I moved but wasn’t outright sparkly as that’s just not my taste. I tried on other dresses, but kept comparing them to my dream dress, Sienna. I tried Sienna on again after all the other gowns, added a veil, and just immediately began to cry as I knew I had found the gown I’d wear while I vowed to spend my life with my favorite person!

Where did you go to Honeymoon?

We are planning on going on a mini-honeymoon to Aspen in Colorado later this year for a winter wonderland getaway with the hopes of going to Italy next year!
