Tegan + Luke

How did you meet?

My husband and I met in high school. He moved to my high school in Year 10 and then we started dating in Year 11 in 2012.

When did you know they were the one?

My husband has the most nurturing, kind soul. It was probably after we left high school and removed a lot of elements from our ‘normal’ that I realised, he would still put me first and dedicate his time to ‘us’.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

his honesty, sense of humor, and loyalty.

Who proposed and how?

My husband proposed to me in January 2019 on NYE/day. It was just after midnight and we spent the night in Brisbane City to watch the fireworks. We returned back to our room just after midnight and he told me that he had made a book. I walked out to the dining table and he had made a book filled with photos of our past 7 years together (holidays, theme parks, costume parties, university graduations), the last page had a message that said ‘turn around’, I turned around and he was there on bended knee and asked me to marry him.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

Seeing my husband’s genuine reaction as I walked down the aisle.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

It was my second appointment to find a dress, I drove to the Gold Coast and tried on the ‘Billie’ and ‘Bella’. I was originally going there with intentions to purchase the ‘Billie’, but I tried the ‘Bella’ on and couldn’t go past it. It was elegantly designed and had one shoulder, the same feature that my formal dress had when I graduated high school, which I attended with my now-husband.

What surprised you most at or about your wedding?

How seamless the day ran. Everything came together perfectly.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Don’t stress about things that are out of your control, take a moment to stand back and take the day in, don’t worry about everyone else happy – it’s your day.

What was one thing you did differently for your wedding?

I am quite an organized person. Getting married during COVID meant that some things were out of my control. I had to be okay with change and getting out of my comfort zone.
