Taylor + Jim

How did you meet?

We met at brunch via mutual friends. One of my husband’s friends from high school is married to one of my friend’s from work-so we met while at brunch with our friends. We hit it off and ended up hanging out after brunch, spending the whole day together basically having an informal first date!

When did you know they were the one?

I knew he was the one when we were about 6 months into dating. We were basically inseparable and anything we did, we ended up having a great time together! I loved that I could be myself around him and we could talk openly about anything with each other. In those first 6 months, we had both shown each other how much we support and respect one another. He was an amazing partner and love of my life…so I just had this ease of knowing we would have a beautiful future together.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His creativity
His ability to be rationale and see someone else’s point of view
How much he cares for his friends and family-he has such a kind, good-hearted soul

Who proposed and how?

After 5 years, a house, and a dog later-he proposed to me in Cape Cod! We go down to the Cape frequently, so on the Fourth of July weekend he asked if I wanted to go for a walk and let our dog swim (he loves swimming!). While we were on the beach, he asked me if I saw our dog’s new dog tag and how the QR code on it scans to his file in case he ever became lost. He asked me to scan the QR code to see if it worked. So I did-but what pulled up was a photo of us and underneath the photo said “will you marry me?” When I looked up from my phone, he was kneeling in the sand with a ring box open and asked me if I would marry him!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with my dress at Vows Bridal! I had been researching gowns on Pinterest and had seen some gowns from the Made With Love collection. I had two friends who chose Made With Love and I loved their dresses! When I tried on the Archie dress, I fell in love with how it looked on me. I loved it more in person than from what I had seen online! I felt so comfortable and beyond confident in the dress! I couldn’t stop looking at myself and thought “Jim is going to die when he sees me.” I didn’t want to take the dress off because I loved how it felt-so soft, comfortable, but with a luxury touch at the same time. I knew it was the one and fit my wedding vision perfectly. A month later (after I said yes to the dress!) I went back on my Pinterest and didn’t realize I had pinned the Archie dress months before I even started officially dress shopping! It was meant to be from the beginning.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

The best moment for me was our first look. We did a private first look and read private vows (that we had written) to each other. It was really special to have this moment for just the two of us and allowed us to say what we wanted to each other privately…helped avoid us being nervous to speak in front of a lot of people.

What were your favourite details?

I loved my veil (I love pearls), it looked so delicate and elegant. The flowers blew me away, I was over the moon with what our florist did! But I loved all the personal unique touches I did for the day and watching our guests enjoy them as well-petal toss, signature drinks, monogram drink stirrers, monogram napkins, espresso martini bar with monogram drink topper, menu cards attached with a thank you card for each guest, cigar bar, ice cream bar, wedding newspaper for our big day with welcome bags for guests staying overnight…seeing it all come together was absolutely amazing to me and brought me so much joy!

What advice would you tell other brides?

If you want to incorporate personal details (big or small) into your day, just do it-you won’t regret it. It’s your wedding day and I know everyone says that, but those personal details genuinely make the day feel like yours and they become the things you look back on with happiness that you did them. Also, take some time to just enjoy being with your new spouse and soak in the fact you two just got married! Letting yourselves catch your breath and cherish being together will mean a lot to you later on! Also, highly recommend doing a first look into your reception before your guests take their seats. You and your vendors put a lot of work into designing and executing your wedding aesthetic-it’s amazing to see it all come together, so take your time to look at the details you chose-it also helps give you a moment alone with your new spouse!

Any standout vendors?

The venue was absolutely amazing to work with and our event coordinator Adrian was awesome from our first meeting, all the way to the day of the wedding. I don’t know what I would have done without her! They beyond exceeded my expectations. I loved our hair stylist (Morgan from Barefoot Bridal Co) and makeup artist Maria Christina-the whole night all my girls were receiving compliments and they each looked stunning! And of course our photographer Bella who went above and beyond to make sure she captured everything and more.
