Sophie + Nick
How did you meet?
I was sat next to Nick on our first day of junior high math class. I was very quiet and shy, and his loud and boisterous personality was both intimidating and intriguing. To this day we still argue about the validity of my story, since I was transferred out of the class a couple days later he doesn’t remember. Fast forward to high school where we became good friends, and even closer once we were in college.
When did you know they were the one?
At Burning Man 2018, that feeling of “when you know you know” hit us both. We decided we would get married at some point, hoping it would be there. This year we were able to have an unofficial wedding ceremony at Burning Man exactly 5 years from the day we had said this to each other.
What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?
He is hilarious and we spend most of our time laughing, always having the best time together no matter what we are doing. The way goes above and beyond to take care of me and loves every part of me. In fact, he cares for everyone around him, no matter if they are family, friend, or stranger. He will always go out of his way to help someone in need.
Who proposed and how?
Nick proposed while I was passive aggressively folding my laundry, upset that he hadn’t already proposed to me earlier that week. LOL!
Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?
I saw the Archie dress online and immediately knew it was the one.
What was the best moment for you at your wedding?
Seeing all of our family and chosen family come together to celebrate our love. We had the best day ever.
What were your favourite details?
If we are talking dress, my favorite part was the detachable tulle wings that I wore instead of a veil. I felt like a fairy!
What advice would you tell other brides?
Do what YOU want. Literally anything goes, screw the traditions, this is YOUR day. Don’t let all the outside noise and others’ opinions convince you into anything that you don’t feel is totally for you and your partner.
Any standout vendors?
Our venue was insanely beautiful, food was amazing, and we loved our photographer!
