Sarah + Reid

How did you meet?

Our friends Allison and Ryan, who are now married with a baby, introduced us when we were 18 and 19! We started texting then eventually hanging out. 10 years later we’re married!

When did you know they were the one?

I knew Reid was the one early on in our relationship and that’s because when we first started dating 10 years ago, Reid went away for his first year of university which was 3 hours away. Reid constantly went out of his way to make me feel special by coming down most weekends to visit me. Not a lot of college boys we’re going home to visit their girlfriends on the weekends.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Reid is very committed, he’s been committed to his sports, school, his job, his family and me. He is also very caring. I am a type 1 diabetic and reid always takes good care of me when I am sick. He also has the best dry sense of humour. He gets told he’s quiet a lot but also gets told how funny he is. He constantly makes the whole room laugh.

Who proposed and how?

Reid proposed to me at a small wine county a few hours away from our home. He planned an all day wine tour and then we checked into our hotel where our balcony overlooked the harbour. We got ready for dinner and then went to the balcony to have some wine, and he got down on one knee!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with my dress the minute I put it on! I found it at Joy Bridal Boutique in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. I loved the long, detachable train and the simpleness of it. It’s so simple and classic and feels like the type of dress that will never go out of style.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

There’s too many to pick! My aunt who I am very close with married Reid and I. Standing up with Reid at the alter with all of our friends and family felt unreal. Walking back down the aisle with Reid while our guests threw confetti. The speeches were also amazing!

What were your favorite details?

My absolute favourite detail of my wedding was the gorgeous sunset view my venue offered. Our venue, called Waterstone Estates in Newmarket, Ontario, is on 100 acres of land and is so incredibly beautiful. It also has the most beautiful old barn that we had our ceremony in. The venue was so beautiful itself I barely felt the need to have any decor as it didn’t need it.

What advice would you tell other brides?

I’m sure they’ve all heard this before – but the day really day flash before your eyes so try to soak it all in!
