Sally + Ben

How did you meet?

We met at university where we lived on the same campus. Ben says that he had a crush from day one, but it wasn’t until our second year that we got together. We’ve now been together for over 10 years!

When did you know they were the one?

Basically as soon as we got together I knew he was the one. There was no specific moment but we just compliment each other so well, I have always known our love will stand the test of time.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner

His humour, his ability to talk his way into and out of any situation and his sensitive, caring nature.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

My now sister-in-law actually tagged me in a photo of the Riley Boho right after we got engaged. I didn’t think I wanted lace but when I tried her on I knew she was the one! She was so effortless to wear and hugged all the right places.

Who proposed and how?

Ben proposed. We lived in London for 4 years and he proposed at home in Melbourne one year to the day that we returned from our adventures. That same date was also our 9 year, 9 week and 9 day anniversary – Ben loves numbers and his favourite number is 9, so it all worked in pretty well! I came home from the gym (a sweaty mess) and Ben told me to ‘stop eating the hummus and crackers’. You can imagine I was quite perplexed by this but he took them off me, shut our balcony door and proceeded to read out a poem on the back of some photos from our travels. It was perfectly us and I got the shock of my life!

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

The best moment was arriving with Ben to a sea of our favourite faces, and of course the epic dance floor!

What surprised you most at or about your wedding?

Everyone says that it goes so quickly, but I honestly didn’t feel like it did. It was perfect and I feel like we really savoured every moment.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Do what you want to do, it’s your day after all!

What was the one thing you did differently for your wedding?

We actually got married at the registry office with about 40 family and friends the day before our big celebration. This gave us time to catch up with them all properly so it wasn’t such a rush to talk to everyone the next day. We still did personal vows the next day which were really special. We also didn’t have a bridal party but my gals all decided to wear pink and it looked SO GOOD!
