Rebecca + Gabe

How did you meet?

I’m from Australia and Gabe is from Canada and we met in Denver Colorado. I was working at a discipleship training school and he was a student. I led a team to Mexico and Jamaica and he came along on that so we spent almost every day together for 5 months. Now we both live in Denver leading teams together.

When did you know they were the one?

A week into having met, we both knew. He was all in from day one but I didn’t really admit it for almost the entire 5 months. Deep down I always knew it was inevitable. We had a chemistry between us that I had never experienced before, it was tangible. Poor Gabe had to wait it out before I was ready as he was my first relationship ever but I’m so glad he never gave up and pursued me day after day.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner

I love how compassionate and generous he is. He really cares about every single person he meets and will do anything for his friends. He’s always feeling compelled to give anything and everything away just to see someone smile or feel loved. He really does loves more deeply than anyone I’ve ever met. He’s also so funny and loves to make people laugh and lights up any room.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with my dress on Pinterest of course! It was just so simple and elegant and beautiful. It was just my style and everything I’d been looking for.

Who proposed and how?

He proposed on a day I was really sick so he started by bringing me breakfast in bed and once I felt better we went Downtown Denver. We had our favourite sushi, went out for coffee and then took a drive into the mountains. Near the top we stopped on the side, walked for a bit through the trees and the snow as he was saying all these sweet things and then he got down on one knee. He really tried to make it a big surprise but I had it all figured out.

Where did you go to Honeymoon?

We couldn’t risk leaving the country with the visas we had so we went to Clearwater, Florida which was as close to a Mexico experience as we could get. It was so beautiful and we stayed in a hotel right on the beach.

Details.

MWL Design:

Sophia

Venue:

My venue was up in the Rocky Mountain with the most beautiful view ever. There was wildflowers everywhere, mountains and trees. It was stunning and everything I’d ever dreamed of. It started raining during the ceremony but was the most fun and perfect experience.

MUA:

My make up artist was my sister who has always been so good at makeup even if just for fun. She knows me best so it was perfect.

Flowers:

I arranged all the flowers myself because it’s not only cheaper but so much fun! I ordered them online through Moxie and ended up with so many more than I thought I would. I had eucalyptus everywhere and it smelled amazing. I wanted all the bouquets to look wild and put together as if we’d just gone and picked them fresh. It was a lot of fun to create all of the pieces, bouquets, garlands and centerpieces.

Bridesmaids:

The bridesmaid outfits were from The Iconic and Staple The Label. I bought them in Australia and then brought them back to Denver with me.

Rings/Jewelery:

My ring I bought from Etsy and is so simple and just my style. I love really understated minimal pieces so it’s just a thin rose gold band. I also had simple stud earrings from a vintage store ‘Meek’ in Denver.

Suits:

The grooms suit was from the Mens Warehouse and the groomsmen bought different pieces from wherever they could.

Shoes:

My shoes were from The Iconic. I wanted a low heel that I could wear again but still pretty enough for the wedding. I saw them online and just bought them on a whim.

Photography:

The photographer was our amazing friend Jenny Nemeti. She did a school with Gabe and I had already seen her photographs before I even met her. I fell in love with her style and asked if she would shoot our wedding. She came from Canada and did an amazing job. She was so friendly and fun and we could not be happier with our photographs. She captured the feel of the day perfectly.
