Rachel + Josh
How did you meet?
We both grew up in the same small town and went to the same Intermediate school, but it wasn’t until high school about 12 years ago where we first crossed paths at a school camp. This was the start of a long friendship which evolved into a relationship almost 8 years ago and we haven’t looked back since. Our relationship came as no surprise to all of our friends and families who know us well.
When did you know they were the one?
I knew straight away that Josh was the one when we decided to take the plunge from friendship to “in-a-relationship”. Everyone says marry your best friend.. and for me this couldn’t have been more true. When we agreed to officially start dating we both knew that we were in it for the long haul, it’s always just felt so fun and easy to be together.
What are your three favourite attributes of your partner
I love Josh’s kind heart, patience and his willingness to do anything and everything for those that he loves.
Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?
As soon as I saw the dress online, it was love at first sight! I knew I wanted a dress with clean lines, no lace, fitted and something a little sophisticated and Bella was all of that and more! The neckline and fabric was so flattering and the bow detail, just the icing on the cake! It was truly the dream dress. The ladies at Felicity’s Bridal in Auckland were so amazing and made the whole process stress free.
Who proposed and how?
Josh proposed while we were holidaying in Canada. Josh had planned quite the proposal all the way from New Zealand, with a helicopter flight and picnic. Unfortunately, when we got to Vancouver, Josh was told that the flight had been cancelled as all of the Helicopters were fighting wildfires. I had no idea all of this was happening, so with Josh panicking and trying to figure out what to do next he arranged a heli-hike near Mount Robson. We have a bit of a think for hiking, so a 25km hike was the perfect proposal!
Where did you go to Honeymoon?
We’ve planned a world trip right after the wedding, back packing through South America before heading to Europe.
