Paulah + Dan

How did you meet?

We met through a mutual friend who I was working with at our local hair dressing salon.
She asked Daniel if he had met the new apprentice yet (me) and insisted on setting us up. After adding each other on MySpace and msn (wow I feel old) we met up and hit it off instantly.

When did you know they were the one?

When you spend more time laughing and smiling and have never laughed or smiled as much as this in your whole life – how we knew we were both the one.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

He is incredibly funny
He loves so hard and puts everyone before himself
He shows up no matter what life throws at him

Who proposed and how?

Daniel proposed on a family holiday in Port Douglas. We spent the day on an adventure, in Mossman gorge with the beautiful waterfalls. We then went back into port Douglas for lunch where he then took me to our favourite look out point where we would watch the clouds pass and waves crash against the rocks.
It started to rain and I went to head back toward the car when I decided no don’t be silly just sit and enjoy the moment and when I turned back around, there he was, on one knee nervous as ever (we had been together 10 years) and he asked me to marry him. Of course it was a yes!!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I had been searching online and talking to my grandma about how I love this dress. As she lived 3 hours away she asked me to send her pictures of the dress so she could see.
Gma absolutely loved my dress, I had never tried it on and had only ever looked at pictures of it online but I just knew it was the dress for me. Bonus that Gma approved as well as she was such a huge part of my life. Unfortunately my Gma passed away before I was able to buy the dress and show her it on in person. A week after her passing I decided to take the risk and order my dress online. It arrived a few short weeks later and when I put it on I just had this feeling like I had never felt before and knew it was the dress I was going to wear on my special day.
I wore the Carla with removable skirt.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

The best moment of my wedding was actually doing a dress reveal to my son Brooklyn who is 4. He had already seen my dress in the box however his reaction when I walked up the stairs to greet him in the house is something I will cherish forever. Everyone cried, such a beautiful moment.

What were your favourite details?

Walking down the isle with my dad and seeing my soon to be husband standing there waiting for me, it was 32 and we were right in the sun. It was so hot and humid but we were so in moment we didn’t care.
The way the sun complimented the venues breath taking view and how every one at our wedding had the best time and we were able to have them all there to celebrate with us (we had just come out of a lockdown 2 days before)

What advice would you tell other brides?

Stop for 10 minutes with your husband and take it all in. You will appreciate those 10 minutes of just the two of you as the day goes so fast and it’s nice to have a moment where you can reflect on the ceremony before the reception chaos starts.
