Olivia + Sam

How did you meet?

We met while we were at high school 8 years ago!

When did you know they were the one?

Almost instantly, we clicked so easily right from the start and have always got along together so well. It’s never felt like work being together.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

He is the kindest person I’ve ever met, he does so much for so many people and is always thinking of them before himself.

He is actually quite funny (although I would never tell him that) and

We have very similar interests, goals and personalities

Who proposed and how?

He proposed to me.

We did a hike at Mt Cook, NZ. It was raining and a really hard walk so naturally I complained the whole time I didn’t want to do it. He kept reassuring me it would be worth it and I definitely was because when we got to the top he proposed to me!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I bought my dress from Bride and Winter in Dunedin. I found them online and fell in love with so many of the Made with Love dresses. Me and my bridesmaids decided to make a special trip and flew to Dunedin to try them on. Louie was the first one I tried on and wow it was love at first sight! It truly was the perfect dress for me. I tried on several other but kept comparing everything back to her.

After I had picked her I was at the airport looking at her online when I realised the name was Louie.

My mum passed away when I was little and my dad always called her Louie. When I saw that I knew it was meant to be.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Either walking down the aisle and finally getting to see my partner or the speeches. Everyone gave such special speeches that I’ll always remember.

What were your favourite details?

My favourite detail of my dress was definitely the petal designs, I’ve never seen something like that and felt it was such a unique feature. It also perfectly suited my style as I’m not really a lacy or sparkly girl.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Don’t sweat the small stuff! Things will go wrong along the way and everything may not work out exactly as you planned but just try to remember what it’s all about and have some fun! It’s meant to be a celebration.

Any standout vendors?

My photographer would absolutely be a stand out vendor for me! Her work speaks for itself but she was also such an amazing help along the way. She gave so much advice and was super easy to deal with. On the day she was my everything girl from helping fix my hair in the wind to running and grabbing me drinks. Way more than just a photographer.
