Neyha + Ben

How did you meet?

A little over 3 years ago, through mutual friends. We lived 6 hours away from each other but my friend showed Ben a photo of me and he asked for my number.

When did you know they were the one?

I was on the phone to my mum and I heard dad on the phone in the background, she said that’s Ben on the phone with your father, they call each other every day like you and I do.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His love for family and friends, no matter what.
His banter. It was immediate attraction for me, never had someone I connected with like that.
And his cheeky smile when he knows he is about to annoy me and push my buttons but I’ll laugh it off anyway

Who proposed and how?

Ben surprised me with a belated “birthday” trip to Mudgee. Told me no details, only what to pack. There was a card from the owner when we got there saying congratulations we have chosen you to feature your stay on our socials, a photographer will be arriving shortly. I was oblivious. More nervous about getting my photos taken to notice he was stressing.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

Sydney boutique. My mum couldn’t make the trip down to help me so I took two friends and they FaceTimed my mum for me and the ladies at the boutique were very accomodating to this.
Noah wasn’t a dress I planned to try on but it was the first. I never thought I’d like a dress like that on me but I put it on and I didn’t want to take it off.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Surprising everyone with my dress. Only 3 people knew what I looked like and I had never hinted at the style to anyone for the longest time. It was so hard not showing anyone my dress, especially my bridesmaids, but to see their reaction and Ben’s made my day even better.

What were your favourite details?

The pearl veil. Everyone complimented me through the day/night. I knew I wanted to incorporate pearls into the designs with the wedding. I had my hair stylist glue little pearls into my hair so that when I took my veil off I still had something to follow through. (I even had a pearl cake).

What advice would you tell other brides?

Don’t get caught up on the little things. I planned this wedding down to every detail and wanted to make everyone feel welcome and have the best night. Turns out I was adding more and more stress onto myself unnecessarily and was so burnt out the night before the wedding I could barely smile. Everyone who came made the night amazing.
