How did you meet?

We met on a Jewish dating app while I was in my last year of undergrad at university and he was in law school. It says “Mazel Tov” when you get a match.

When did you know they were the one?

When I realized he felt like home.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

He’s goofy, loyal, and unapologetically himself.

Who proposed and how?

He proposed in October 2020 during peak pandemic. He told my mom he was planning on doing it and asked her to come into town. At that time, Canada was requiring that anyone who came into the country quarantine for 14 days. On the day that she got out of quarantine, he proposed! His siblings set up our apartment with candles and flowers while we were out to dinner.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I tried it on on a whim because I wasn’t initially going for strapless! I ended up loving it and kept coming back to it no matter how many dresses I tried on. As an indecisive person, I made a rule for myself that I could only ever have two “contenders” at a time, and Penny survived every single elimination round.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

I’m from Mexico but live in Canada, and during our photos our photographer found a wall in an alley with street art that resembled my favourite Mexican pottery/tile designs. It felt meant to be that a piece of home unexpectedly found me during that day.

What were your favourite details?

Special touches that brought my Mexican background to the day like the “papel picado” banners we hung from the ceiling, midnight quesadillas, and a surprise mariachi band.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Even if you don’t invest in getting disposable cameras for every table, I’d suggest getting 1-2 to have throughout the day! The photos came out so well and since we developed them right away, it was nice to have some pictures to look back on while we waited for our photographer to edit the professional ones.
