Michael + Callie

How did you meet?

My husband and I actually met the craziest way! I was on a girls trip in Arizona and happened to meet his work friends at a bar. (He was in AZ at the same time but not at the bar) They happened to be from Chicago too! We became FB friends and noticed my now husband come up as “someone you may know.” I friend requested him, he messaged me and the rest is history! We actually grew up in the same town and lived on the same street as each other in Chicago!

When did you know they were the one?

As cliche as it sounds, I knew he was the one right away. After all of the “coincidences” we had it just seemed perfect!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

My three favorite attributes are his calming presence, he’s soo caring about literally everyone, and he’s just an all around good person

Who proposed and how?

He proposed! He picks me up from the train station every night after work and when I got off there were balloons that said marry me in the parking lot!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with my dress at Bella Bleu. A friend actually tagged me in a pic of Georgie on Instagram and I went there for that dress! Only one I tried on and I knew right away!

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

So I was a covid bride so we had a lot of restrictions at our wedding. We were only able to have 50 people. We got married on our original date of June 12 with family and then we’re able to have the reception on September 4 and honestly just finally being able to celebrate with our 50 closest family and friends, without being pulled in 100 directions to mingle, was the best part ever. Everyone just let lose after 6 months of soo much worry and uncertainty.

What surprised you most at or about your wedding?

What surprised me the most was how much fun our reception was with just 50 people. Like I said it was our closest family and friends and was just the best night ever. It was one of the first times we were finally allowed out and the first wedding our friends and family had been to all year. It was so great to be able to see everyone again after such a hard year.

What advice would you tell other brides?

This year was something no one could have ever imagined. And after months and months of worry and uncertainty, you finally come to the realization that this is about you and your husband. There was no way I was able to please everyone with the restrictions but my husband and I were determined to not let this effect our love. When your living in a time where there’s nothing you can do, you truly understand the meaning of marriage/weddings. I would advice any bride still going through this to try and stay focused on the true meaning of your wedding.
