Melissa + Andrew

How did you meet?

We are both from the UK and living in London, but we met on a 2-day boat trip in the Whitsundays in Australia in 2016 – We were both on holiday, travelling solo and hit it off straight away!! We haven’t spent a day not chatting since 🙂

When did you know they were the one?

We were instantly comfortable with each other and by the end of the 3 days in Australia together, it felt like we had known each other forever and we knew we had something special.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His sense of humour, his thoughtfulness and his sense of adventure!

Who proposed and how?

Andy proposed to me in Val D’Isere, France. We were on a ski trip with a group of friends and one morning he ventured out to find the perfect spot which was off-piste and out of sight from others, but had a stunning view of the town. He hid a bottle of Champagne in the snow and then took me there later that day. It was a complete surprise!! So much so that I had an unexpected nose bleed just in the moment he was meant to propose…!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I saw it on Instagram and instantly fell in love with it. When I tried it on in the MWL London show room I loved it, but was also drawn to so many of the dresses! But I knew Darcy was the one for me and not long after bought it from a stockist in Southampton called Ava Louise.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Our first dance was incredible! We had made a dance floor out of Persian rugs in the Couryard of our French Chateau venue and there was twinkly festoon lighting above us. Everyone stood around us shining their torches, it was magical!

What were your favourite details?

We rented a vintage MG which we drove away from the Church, we felt like celebs with everyone waving us off and it gave us a moment to be alone together. Walking into the Chateau courtyard for dinner to our band playing You’ve got the Love was really special and then dancing in the courtyard as the sun went down.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Make your wedding unique to you. Include special touches and moments that are unique to you and your husband to be as they will be the most special moments of the day and what everyone (and you) remembers!
