Madison & Jimmy

How did you meet?

We “officially” met at a wedding in September 2017. I was a guest of the bride, and Jimmy was a groomsman. Coincidentally, we both attended high schools in the same town, had mutual friends, and had never met. Jimmy had seen me out and about the year leading up to us officially meeting. We truly believe fate brought us together in the perfect place at the perfect time!

When did you know they were the one?

I cannot pinpoint a specific moment, but an ongoing feeling. Jimmy always put me first and I could feel it. I could feel how much he loved me without him even saying it from the beginning of our relationship.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Jimmy is gentle, (brutally) honest, and driven.

Who proposed and how?

Jimmy proposed on November 3rd, 2019 at our favorite getaway spot for anniversaries and birthdays – The Skyview Motel in Los Alamos, California. We spent the day wine tasting, eating at our favorite spots and relaxing by the pool. After a beautiful French-inspired dinner, we came back to our cozy room to where I found string lights set up on our back patio. Jimmy asked me to be his wife and it was the easiest “yes” I have ever said.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

My dad being able to walk me down the aisle. The week before the wedding, my dad had been in the hospital and I found myself beginning to wonder if my dad was going to be able to walk me down the aisle. I know it is a harsh reality for many people to not have a parent at their wedding, and I am beyond grateful that my dad is healthy and was able to be there.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I am a sucker for wedding dresses and will admit I had been following MWL on social media long before I had ever met Jimmy. I remember the new collection being released and instantly being drawn to River. Luckily Moondance Bridal received River a couple weeks before my first appointment. I went into it with an open mind, but always found myself coming back to River. Between the beaded lace bodice, form fitting lace, and tiered tulle, I just knew she was the one! The perfect balance of modern and classic.

What surprised you most at or about your wedding?

How at ease I was. I had always pictured myself being super emotional on my wedding day, but I was SO relaxed. I know this sense of ease came from confidence that I made the right choice for my husband and partner in life.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Relax, take it all in, and HAVE  FUN! Don’t sweat the small stuff, everything melts away when you see your love waiting for you at the altar!

What was one thing you did differently for your wedding?

Like many other couples this year, we had to drastically change our wedding plans due to the ever changing state of the pandemic. What was supposed to be a 300+ guest wedding, became an intimate ceremony & dinner of 37 with our closest family and friends in attendance. While this was a hard decision to make, we know it was the best decision. We feel we were able to appreciate and soak up the day much more than we would have been able to at a huge production of a wedding. We are still planning to have our big reception in 2021, and I cannot wait to wear River again!
