Lydia + Jack

How did you meet?

We were both working for the same company, in the same small building, but had never met, and we were set up by mutual friends. He actually emailed me to make sure I was the right person before asking for my number! Then after a while of texting we met in the pub after work for a drink.

When did you know they were the one?

Very early on, probably by the 3rd or 4th date. He was just everything I was looking for, and very quickly it felt very natural and easy between us. I loved how much fun we had and how safe he made me feel.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

He’s funny, and makes me laugh every day. We just have so much fun together.
He’s always looking out for me and trying to make sure I’m happy. He makes me feel safe and loved every day.
He’s active and loves the outdoors, which means we’ve had some amazing ski trips and walking holidays, and we both love being out and walking our dog Moose every day.

Who proposed and how?

He proposed to me on one of our favourite local dog walks, on a hill that we can see from our bedroom window. It was a rainy and windy morning, and it couldn’t of been more perfectly ‘us’ if he tried. There was no one around, and we were both wearing full waterproofs, and I couldn’t have been more caught off guard , I had no idea! I think the very first thing I said before I cried was ‘are you serious?!’. Later that day we were going away with my family for the weekend, so it meant we could tell them all in one room, which I loved.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

In the London boutique. I had always loved MWL dresses, even before I was engaged, and I originally went to my local stockist (Halo & Wren) as my first bridal shop, convinced that Louie Flowy was THE dress. While I was there I fell in love with Archie and Harry, but wanted to try another couple of shops before I made up my mind. A few weeks later Darcy came out, so I booked an appointment at the London boutique to try her on and by the time my appointment came around, Hendrix had been released. As soon as I tried it on with the bows and the buttons at the back, I knew it was the dress for me. It had everything I was looking for, parts of other dresses from MWL or other brands that I had loved but hadn’t quite said yes to. But then Hendrix seemed to combine them all perfect and it was the first dress that really made me feel like a bride!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Seeing the groom as I was walking down the aisle. Both me and the groom were crying, it was just so emotional seeing him with everyone we know and love around us, and it finally clicked that were were about to get married!

What were your favourite details?

Wedding details – I absolutely loved our flowers, and also the personalised dog napkins and dog photobooth props that I had made as we didn’t have our dog Moose with us on the day.
Outfit details – aside from my dress, I really loved the gold bangle I wore which was personalised with our initials and wedding date.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Practical advice – give the photographer or your groom your lipstick, then you can top up all day!
General advice (which I know all brides give) – take it all in as much as you can, the day goes SO quickly! The only real time we had to ourselves was during the photos, so we made that as much fun as possible and talked/laughed about our mornings and the ceremony.

Any standout vendors?

All of them, I really loved everyone we worked with. From the make up artists and hair stylists to the florist to the photographers and videographer, they were all brilliant! But one of the best vendors was our band, they just made the evening reception the kind of party we were hoping for and everyone absolutely loved them!
