Lucy + Thomas

When did you know they were the one?

I don’t know when but I just knew.
He is funny, kind and we constantly have fun together and I wouldn’t want to do life with anyone else. I think our happiness shines through in our wedding photos, the whole day was just smiles and laughs.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

1. Big heart
2. Strong minded
3. Handy man

Who proposed and how?

Tom proposed to me in Port Douglas in March 2022. We were away on holiday (which was pushed back due to the covid lockdowns) and on day one he suggested we go out for a nice lunch then walk down on the beach jetty for a nice photo (which is very unlike him, he never suggests photos). We finished lunch and walked down to the jetty, Tom started setting up his phone for a photo and I was putting my bag down getting ready. I then turned around and Tom was on one knee, I said “what are you doing” and he started saying a little speech and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes. He’s my best friend.
Tom had planned the entire proposal with my mum and I had absolutely no idea. It was the best surprise.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I actually saw my dress online and didn’t think it was the one for me. I walked into the store and was greeted by lovely Annette who asked if she could have a wildcard as she had the perfect dress in mind for me. I said yes and it was the first dress I tried on – I loved it instantly. I tried on several other dresses but none compared to Posie, she’s a beauty!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Seeing Tom at the end of the aisle. I walked down one section of the aisle then had to do a slight turn, it was when I had turned that I saw Tom standing there in his tuxedo (so handsome) and I did my normal little wave that I do when I see him. This set him off and he started crying – such a happy moment. It will stay with me forever.

What were your favourite details?

I had many favourite details but the flowers were the main one. I let my florist have complete control with the floral arrangements and she did an absolute brilliant job. Everything was perfect – simple and elegant were my key words.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Breathe.
It sounds so simple but it’s what kept me so calm the day of the wedding.
