Lindsey + Weston

How did you meet?

We met when we were just 16. Growing up in a relatively small town, I always knew of him, but never actually met him until we crossed paths at a house party. It’s been 12 years since then, and we’ve never looked back!

When did you know they were the one?

I can’t pinpoint the exact moment I knew, but I was confident that we wouldn’t be a “high school fling” after just a few months. I was heading to university in a few weeks, and I was never once worried that we wouldn’t make it. That sentiment endured through each new adventure – including our degrees at different universities and living aboard (apart).

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

He is truly the full package. He’s incredibly driven and loves to learn. But what I love the most is his commitment to others (not just me). The time and effort he puts into his family, friends, and community make me so proud to be his wife.

Who proposed and how?

After 10 years together, he finally popped the question. You’d think I would have expected it after so long, but he made it seem like a regular Saturday morning. He asked if I’d like to take our dog for a walk in the woods near our house. So off we went, like normal. The snow was falling lightly and he unexpectedly proposed partway through the walk, with a beautifully unique marquise ring from a local jeweler that was completely “me.” At the end of the trail, our close family and friends were waiting for us with champagne. It was perfection!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I always knew I’d go to The Modern Bride in Guelph, Ontario, for my dress. I’d been there with all my friends who were married in previous years, and the dress selection and service are unparalleled. I had my eye on Georgie when browsing online, so naturally, Archie won my heart the second I tried her on. It was simple yet so elegant, and it was an absolute dream to wear the day of the wedding. I opted to go without the cowl to keep the back simpler, more like Georgie V2.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

It was very simple. At one point during dinner, I just took a moment to look out across the tables of guests eating, conversing, laughing, and having a great time. I just let that moment sink in. It was actually my day-of coordinator who told me to do this. We had waited so long for the big day, and it can be pretty hectic and go so quickly. I was grateful for the reminder to slow down and appreciate the result of all our planning – and all of our friends and family coming (some from across the continent) to celebrate with us.

What were your favourite details?

The live music during the ceremony and the flowers. A family friend of mine did an acoustic rendition of “Simply the Best” for the ceremony, and it was spectacular. The flowers were also such a lovely detail that brought everything to life. They were so artistic, whimsical, and playful.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Get a day of coordinator so you don’t have to stress about the “what if’s” and the details the day of. And on a related note, there will always be something that doesn’t go to plan on the day, so don’t sweat it. Hire a professional to handle that so you don’t have to, and try to be as in the moment as you can to enjoy the day.
