Lauren + Jacob

How did you meet?

We met at church in 2017. I got asked to volunteer to make coffee and had to arrive very early in the morning. I got locked outside in the parking lot because nobody else was there yet and my fiance pulled in right after me!

How did you know they were the one?

I think I always knew! There wasn’t a specific moment where I was like “Oh he’s the one”. It was more of a peaceful feeling that lasted and lasted.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

My husband is the most friendly and outgoing person I know! He can talk to ANYONE and I’m a little more quiet so we balance each other really well. He is also a very calm person and I really appreciate that about him because I am a very anxious person.

Who proposed and how?

My husband proposed on 12/22/2019. Every year I do a “date” with my beloved grandmother. 2019 was our 10 year anniversary of doing  yearly grandmother/granddaughter dates. I went to pick up my grandma at her house for our date and my husband was waiting in their house to propose to me. Side note: My grandpa built there house and him and my grandma have been married for 72 years so their house is really special to me.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

We did a first look before our ceremony and that was my favourite part. Neither of us like public speaking, so we decided to do our vows privately and it turned out perfect.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

Oh gosh, all of it! Actually MAKING IT to the wedding day! We were supposed to get married on 1/9/21 but because of covid had to change our plans. We changed the date to 12/20/20 and decided to elope but then I got covid one week before our wedding and we had to change it AGAIN. I recovered and we ended up getting married on 12/27/2020.

What advice would you tell other brides?

My answer has changed because of covid but don’t get caught up in all the planning details. I had my dream wedding planned FOREVER and our actual day looked nothing like I planned but I loved it so much. I didn’t realize that our small wedding was actually my dream come true.

What was one thing you did differently for your wedding?

We had an adorable mobile bar for a hot drink bar since our wedding was outdoors in December. We did spiked hot chocolate and coffee!
