Laura + Ryan

How did you meet?

Ryan and I are both from the UK but we met in Sydney Australia! He was working there for a year and I was a flight attendant for Qantas, on a stop-over in Sydney. We went on our first date in Darling Harbour, and from then on I was working as many London-Sydney flights as possible! A very long commute for dating! 6 months after Ryan moved home to England and we began our love story from there.

When did you know they were the one?

Ryan has a special way to immediately take me out of a bad mood. He has the kindest heart and honestly is the funniest person I know. My mum always said to me, ‘looks fade, personality stays’ and from then I knew he would make me laugh for the rest of my life.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

1. Ryan is an absolute HUNK! haha
2. I love his adventurous side, he is always keen for new things and experiences
3. His love for everyone he cares about, he would do anything for anyone

Who proposed and how?

Before covid we were meant to take a 6 week trip to New Zealand and Ryan was going to do it then, however that got cancelled. Then a trip to the South of France got cancelled too! So on 30th July 2020 we watched the sunset on Mam Tor in the Peak District National Park, we took some wine and beers and snacks, and watched the sun go down. We wild camped at the top of Mam Tor under the stars, and when the sun started to rise over the mountains, Ryan got down on one knee. Saying I was shocked is an understatement!! As this was they guy who always said he didn’t want to get married!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I went to a boutique called Coco and Kate in Warwickshire UK. Gemma my stylist was amazing! I always thought I would want a lace dress, and I had an idea in mind of the dresses I wanted to try. I loved them all, but didn’t have that ‘moment’ and I couldn’t understand why! My mum then asked Gemma to pull out a ‘wild card’ something completely different. And out came LOLA!! She really was a showgirl! As soon as I put her on I felt a million dollars! My mum literally said ‘what a show stopper!’. My exact words were, ‘I feel like I can get married in this dress and it be timeless…..and then head straight to the Grammys!!!’ haha

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

The best moment for me was walking down (our very long) aisle. What a moment, seeing Ryan’s face for the first time is an image I will never forgot, and having my dad by my side.
The evening though….. LOLA was a party girl and the dress sparkled in the Spanish sunset under the palm trees and I felt a moment of euphoria.

What were your favourite details?

Having a saxophone player was amazing, he really got the party started! I loved getting married in Spain at an old Finca surrounding by beautiful gardens and palm trees. We didn’t need a lot of decoration as the venue was simply stunning!

What advice would you tell other brides?

Hire a wedding planner!! Our wedding planner Raquel took away all the stress of the day! Everything ran so smooth and I didn’t have to think about one thing all day (and I’m a control freak!).

Any standout vendors?

Desos Flowers in Marbella made my bouquet of dreams, full of orchids, white roses and baby’s breath!
