Laura + Matt

How did you meet?

Matty and I attended the same rural high school but it wasn’t until 9 years later a mutual friend reintroduced us and we went on our first date.

When did you know they were the one?

When we packed up and travelled to the Cape together on a 4 week trip in 2020. We spent every moment together and became an unbreakable team as we face a few challenges and hurdles.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Matt has a tough exterior and is a hard worker, and although he doesn’t like to admit it he has a romantic and kind heart. He’s mischievous, a big kid at heart and makes me laugh daily.

Who proposed and how?

Matt proposed at Whitehaven beach on our birthday weekend away. As we are born both in February (the 5th and 8th) we booked a holiday as our present to each other and I was none the wiser that it would be the weekend he’d would get down on one knee on the beautiful white sand in the Whitsundays.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with my dress on my first trip to MWL in the Gold Coast. I fell in love with the bows, the lace and the low back. One I tried the dress on I just felt beautiful and that the cut of the dress complimented my body shape.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

As soon as I had said my vows, I immediately relaxed and was able to take it all in. From then on Matty and I just spent every moment enjoying our day together with our closest friends and family.

What were your favourite details?

We decided on an open ceremony so all our friends, family and work colleagues could witness us getting married. Then we invited 40 of our closest friends and family to our reception for an intimate and laughter filled evening.

What advice would you tell other brides?

The wedding is about you and your partner, pick the dress YOU feel beautiful in, pick the guests YOU BOTH want to spend YOUR day with and just enjoy every moment TOGETHER.
