Laura + Craig

How did you meet?

We both joined the police as volunteer police officers but we didn’t get together until years later after bumping in to each other again.

When did you know they were the one?

For both of us there was always something about the other that stuck with us; but for me I knew for a long time before I admitted it. I’d come out of a relationship when we reconnected and I wanted time for just me but he made his intentions clear and waited until I was ready. I think I knew I needed the time because once I let him in, that was it, it was forever

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

How he puts everyone at ease, he’s so easy to like and is his genuine self no matter the audience or situation.
How he makes me smile, brings out my playful side and gets me out of my head.
How hard he works for our little family and our future; he puts us first without a second thought

Who proposed and how?

He prosposed to me at the spot we shared our first kiss on our very first date in York (UK); well almost the exact spot, he took me away for a night after we’d had some bad rainfall and the river had actually burst it’s banks so we turned the corner to the spot to find the area all flooded, he still got as close as he could and got down on one knee, safe to say the knee got wet.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with the MWL style through posts on Instagram, I was determined to try some on but struggled through the pandemic to be able to get to a store. Finally only 4 months before the wedding (our original date we’d held on to just in case) I finally got to Coco and Kate in Warwickshire and it was clearly the perfect timing as Louie had just come out and it was everything and more. So perfect for what I wanted and our venue. It was delicate, light weight, romantic but still modern and felt very much like me, subtle, I’ve never seen myself as the type of women who stands out, more of the every day girl next door and this dress made me feel stunning but still very much me as it was subtly stunning. And the wings oh the wings!! The perfect touch for any bride who isn’t too traditional and does get the feels from a veil.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Our vows!!! We wrote our own, they were intimate, beautiful and emotive. We said them in front of a small wedding our closest 50 odd friends and family but to be honest they still all melted away and it was just me and him.

What were your favourite details?

We put a lot of ourselves into our wedding day, my husbands favourite food is pizza so we had a pizza van for the evening, whilst I’m well known for loving a glass of Prosecco so we had a Prosecco van with canapés. We also made all our own signage putting both our skills/passions into it and had banners made as a suprise for each other stating the reasons we love each other.

What advice would you tell other brides?

It’s hard to not create a wedding for everyone else; but try not to get sucked in to what others want. Early on write down what your perfect wedding day would look like for you both and come back to that any time you feel you’re being swayed to picking something not you! Also don’t be afraid to cut out traditions that don’t mean anything for you, create new ones, adapt old ones or stick to traditions, just do it because you want to not because it ‘should be done’.

Any Stand out Vendors?

EKR Pictures
Ellie was the most incredible photographer she just put us immediately as ease, she quickly felt like a friend and slotted in to our day with ease. Even with our dog who came to the wedding and is pretty picky with who he likes, she won him over almost immediately and the pictures just tell the story of our day, the emotions can be relived because she captures them in every photo.

Fizz 76 – the Prosecco van
This was 100% one of the best additions to our day. Meg the owner was so personable and amazing.

Our Venue – Aswarby Rectory
It was just stunning the perfect intimate venue, it honestly felt like family coming together in a large family home.

Frond and Bloom – Florist
Charlotte is just truly amazing at what she does. She totally captured what we wanted and complimented the venue so well. We just felt like we could trust her to deliver and my did she
