Lana + Elliot

How did you meet?

Elliot and I went to school together, but it wasn’t until friends of ours started dating after school that we actually got to know each other and started dating!

When did you know they were the one?

Elliot is one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met, so I figured he was pretty special early on. But it wasn’t until I relocated to Brisbane without him that we realized that we would never forgive ourselves if we didn’t give the relationship a proper shot. He relocated to Brisbane 6 months later and we’ve never looked back!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner

He has a great sense of curiosity, a wonderful sense of humor, and is endlessly calm and patient with me!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I was fairly familiar with MWL from social media so booked an appointment at the Gold Coast MWL Boutique. Riley Luxe had only just been released, so I hadn’t actually seen it before the lovely lady at the boutique suggested I try it on. I have a small frame and had struggled to pull off so many of the previous dresses I had tried on elsewhere, so I immediately loved how simple yet unique and comfortable it was, and that it still worked on a petite body type!

Who proposed and how?

Elliot proposed- I walked in the door to a beautifully clean house, a bottle of bubbles, and some nibbles. Our German Shepherd (Gunther) came running into our loungeroom with a package around his neck and Elliot popped down on one knee as he pulled the ring out of the package hanging from Gunther’s collar. I had absolutely no idea, I hadn’t even noticed the champagne! It was low-key, intimate, and perfect.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

Oh gosh, it’s so hard to pick just one… Having all of our nearest and dearest around, the live music, and the hilarious and heart-felt speeches were probably a few of the highlights! A heavy metal band was playing at a venue across the river during our ceremony, which picked up the volume as I started my vows, that was also quite funny and an unexpected memory that we’ll cherish.

What surprised you most at or about your wedding?

How wonderful the entire day was. I always knew it would be great, but I’ve never been the type to get too swept up in all the glitz and glam of the day, but it truly was the happiest day of our lives!

What advice would you tell other brides?

It’s cliché, but it’s over before you know it, so try not to fret the small stuff and just take it all in. Elliot and I made a pact to remind each other to step back and absorb our surroundings during the day. We actually did remind each other a couple of times and it was so special to take a little moment together and to revel in all the love and joy around us.

What was the one thing you did differently for your wedding?

We had a cocktail style wedding, which seems to be less of a popular choice. We absolutely loved that we could mingle with our guests all night, and it felt like we were able to maximize the night because of it!
