Kyna + Ricci

How did you meet?

We are high school sweethearts! We’ve been dating since we were 15. I met Ricci at the school canteen that was shared between the boys and girls schools

When did you know they were the one?

I don’t think there was a specific moment. But after being together for 15 years, growing up and maturing together I don’t think there is anyone else I could ever be more myself with.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His positive attitude and outlook on absolutely everything, his silly and upbeat humour and his cooking!

Who proposed and how?

Ricci proposed after 13.5 years together. It was the first weekend after the first Sydney lockdown and we spent the weekend on the Hawkesbury river, just us and our furbabies.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I remember seeing Lola on Instagram and sending it to a friend saying how beautiful it was but that it was too sparkly for me. I tried it on at the Sydney boutique and couldn’t get past it. Every other dress I tried on after that was compared back to Lola

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

The highlight of the day was definitely our ceremony. We had already had a micro legal (very emotional) ceremony with our immediate families on our 15 year anniversary which was our original wedding date. Our (second) ceremony was still so emotional and personalised and felt so so us.

What were your favourite details?

My favourite details about the dress is the silhouette, the square neckline, the stunning low back and the way the belt sat just above the v of the back

My favourite details about the wedding was just how personalised it was! We really didn’t want it to be a cookie cutter wedding. I loved the long tables, how we sat amongst our guests instead of a bridal table, the share plates all made it feel like a big family dinner. Our love for food extended to a late night snack of roast pork rolls while everyone danced!

What advice would you tell other brides?

Just relax and have fun! Don’t stress about little details because no one will notice except you. Don’t worry about what anyone else is thinking or what they think about things because as long as you and your partner are happy and in the moment, everyone else will feel that and be in the moment too!

Maria from @mariaolvinacelebrant made both our ceremonies so special and captured the essence of us! She was so real, down to earth and genuine. She told our story so beautifully and made everyone laugh and have a good time.
Rachael from Petal & Peach Floral Design saved my ass last minute! She made my vision come to life with such minimal prompting from me and was so beautiful to work with!
