Kristine + Cody

How did you meet?

Cody and I met when we were in grade school through mutual friends at a grade school dance. In high school we started dating our junior year and have been together for the last 12 years!

When did you know they were the one?

I knew Cody was the one early on in our relationship. During college we started talking about our future together and where we saw ourselves in a few years and our lives and goals were so in sync that we knew this would be forever.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner

Cody is the greatest dog dad ever. He’s so kind and loving. He is hilarious and can make me laugh even when I don’t want to. But my favorite thing about him is how people gravitate towards him. He makes everyone feel comfortable and have fun. He makes everyone love him and that’s why I love him the most.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with the Stevie dress when I was scrolling through Pinterest (even before the engagement). Once I was engaged the first thing on my to-do list was to find this dress! I was so glad there was an Arizona stockist close to me! When I went to choose the dress I tried on a few other styles but Stevie was THE ONE. The bone underlay was a new option for the dress so I wasn’t able to try it on before ordering but Brenda from Bella Lily showed me a swatch of the fabric and assured me that it would look amazing. I’m so glad I chose that option! It changed the look of the dress and matched my skin tone perfectly! The color and adding more lace to the bust made it the perfect dress for me!

Who proposed and how?

Cody proposed in front of the Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas. He had a magician approach us with a few tricks and the last trick was Cody pulling out a card from the deck that read “Will you marry me?” as he got down on one knee.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

Most of our guests were from out of town so to have them fly or drive to Arizona to celebrate with us was very special! Everyone who was important to us was there to share our day- even our fur babies Brody and Theo were in our wedding and partied all night with us!

What surprised you most at or about your wedding?

I was surprised by how relaxed I was. I was nervous about all the small things while we were planning the wedding but once your day arrives it all just fades away and you get to focus on what’s important- the family and friends that are there and your love for your future spouse.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Don’t get hung up on all the details. The vision in your head of your wedding is great during the planning process but the actual day is so much better! Be present and in the moment because it goes by so fast!

What was the one thing you did differently for your wedding?

We like to party so we made our wedding into a 3-day affair. Because our guests were staying near us we wanted as many opportunities to see them as we could! Of course, we had the rehearsal dinner the day before and the wedding itself but we also had a New Years Eve party with our guests the next day. It was so fun to ring in the new year as Mr. and Mrs. with all our friends and family! NYE also marked 12 years of Cody and I dating so it was a special day too!
