Kiera + Marshall
How did you meet?
We met in June 2013 when Marshall first saw me at our county fair (Marshall County!!) when we were 15 and 17. He didn’t introduce himself until a few weeks later when he came across my Twitter account. He messaged me a very romantic “Hey!! What’s up?!” and I saw it, but he went to a different school so I knew I wouldn’t be able to meet him and didn’t reply. My best friend got the notification of the message on her iPad, which my account was logged onto. She told me I needed to reply and when I wouldn’t, she replied back from my account. I didn’t want her to embarrass me, so I took over after a few messages and the rest is history! We ended up meeting in person in November 2013, after 4 months of talking 24/7 via text and calls.
When did you know they were the one?
I knew Marshall was the one when he had told me he was going to marry me one day before we had even met in person. I was 15 and thought he was crazy, but was also giddy at the thought of it being true. 10 years later, he was right!
What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?
1. His work ethic
2. His optimism and positivity
3. His compassion
Who proposed and how?
Marshall proposed before my master’s graduation photoshoot. He had a different photographer staked out behind a tree on the campus of our alma mater!
Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?
I fell in love with the Elsie with bows and veil wings at Chantilly Bridal Studio in Oklahoma City, OK. There was no competition between any other dresses. Elsie was perfect for me and my personality!
What was the best moment for you at your wedding?
The best moment was during our first dance, with all of our friends and family watching us, the bubbles circling around us (we had 2 bubble machines going), the fairy lights and looking up and seeing my little sisters (3 and 10) blowing bubbles down on us.
What were your favourite details?
My favorite details! Where do I begin?
-Our wedding date that was picked out from the song Family by Satellite Stories. We picked it out the date when we first started dating!
– Our hashtag #TyingtheScott
– The arbor that my father made for the ceremony
– The bridesmaids baskets
– Sneaking away and taking photos after the ceremony at Mount Scott (as the Scotts!!)
– The wedding newspaper that I made and had printed
– Permanent jewelry as our private unity ceremony during our first look
What advice would you tell other brides?
Advice I would tell other brides is that the day will be perfect, even if everything doesn’t go smoothly! Some things are destined to go not as planned, but at the end of the day, marrying your best friend is the most important thing.
