Kendall + Taylor
How did you meet?
Wow, that’s a long story…it’s easiest to just say that I was working at a restaurant and I worked with a girl who Taylor knew from school. She introduced the two of us, without knowing it would ever become anything serious!
When did you know they were the one?
I knew he was the one weeks after we met. He laughed at all of my terrible jokes, he was the most respectful gentleman, and he loved my family like his own. I didn’t need to know anything else. I knew I’d marry him one day from the time I was 15 years old.
What are your 3 favourite attributes of your partner?
He’s so patient (thank goodness because I’m not!), he’s so incredibly caring, and he works harder than anybody I’ve ever met.
Who proposed and how?
We were on a walk at a park near our house with our pup, Maverick. Taylor took me a different way than he usually did, but I didn’t think much of it. He asked me to go take a look at something, and when I turned around he was down on one knee…Asking me to be his wife!
Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?
So, I actually had “Georgie” on my Pinterest board for quite some time. I wanted a form-fitting dress and thought she was absolutely stunning, but I never thought the dress would suit my body. Well, I pulled Georgie off the rack and my mom and nana said I had to try her on or I’d regret it. They were right. Instantly I knew she was my dress, because I’d never felt more beautiful. Sexy. Stunning. I never wanted to take that dress off my body, and I couldn’t see myself marrying the man of my dreams in anything else!
What was the best moment for you at the wedding?
My husband Taylor is an incredibly private guy. When I brought up writing personal vows to each other, he loved the idea but didn’t want everyone to hear the intimate words we had written for each other. He suggested reading them in private to one another. So during our first look, we promised each other forever and vowed to love one another no matter what (with nobody there except our photographer). Taylor isn’t usually emotional, but we both cried the happiest tears. It ended up being my favourite part of the whole day!
What surprised you most at or about your wedding?
How much I loved the intimate wedding! Like many brides, I had a different wedding planned and a different vision for my day entirely. When Covid hit, my husband and I made the decision to shrink down our guest list and have a small wedding with our immediate family and closest friends. I struggled with the idea at first, but it ended up being the best decision and the greatest day of my life. We got to spend quality time with everyone, as well as each other. It was a beautiful day that I will cherish forever.
What advice would you tell other brides?
Cry, laugh, smile, and enjoy! You only get this day once. The day probably won’t go perfectly, and that’s okay. It goes by so fast and you don’t want to miss a second. Take a deep breath, soak it all in, and remember that you get to marry your best friend!
What was one thing you did differently for your wedding?
One thing? We did lots differently! We had no bridesmaids or groomsmen, my little brother’s walked me down the aisle, my engagement ring is a black diamond, I had no professional hair or makeup done, and we got married on a Monday because that was our 9 year anniversary!
