Kelsey + Josh

How did you meet?

Josh and I are both race car drivers! We are third generation Drag Racers in our families and met at the race track in 2009

When did you know they were the one?

Josh and I started dating when we were 15. He lived on the Gold Coast and I lived in Canberra.
We had a long distance relationship for 4 years during high school and college and would only see each other at racing events or during school holidays. He then moved down to Canberra in 2013! I knew Josh and I were something special as soon as we started Dating, but after making it through a long distance relationship I knew we could achieve anything together.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

He is caring to everyone he interacts with.
He puts 100% into everything that he does.
He is my biggest supporter!

Who proposed and how?

It was my dream to go to New York.
In 2016 we flew to the USA and spent 10 days in NYC. On the 8th day Josh surprised me with a guided tour around Central Park and the tour guide was also a photographer (funny that!). We walked across the Bow Bridge and he got down on one knee with my mums original engagement ring! I was lost for words!
We then spent the afternoon walking around NYC going to jewellers to find a ring!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I adored Tommy because of her elegance, timelessness and the beautiful beading.
As soon as I put it on, I knew she was the perfect dress for me! I love how she sparkles and the beautiful lace.
The Holly veil also perfectly complimented the dress.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

Our wedding date was impacted by Covid and during the week of our wedding we were impacted by the snap Brisbane lockdown. I felt like I was almost running to Josh down the aisle as I couldn’t believe it was actually happening! To see all our loved ones in the one room after the roller coaster to get to that date was very special.

What were your favourite details?

Our venue (Cowbell Creek in Austinville) felt like home to us. We adore the venue, especially the beautiful barn.
My Grandma made the wedding cake herself. She also made jars of home made (and home grown!) chilli jam for all of our guests!

What advice would you tell other brides?

DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF!
It’s easier said than done, but I mean it. Everything will work out the way it should be! The day is about you and your husband, don’t let anything else get in the way

Any standout vendors?

Celebrant – Ben Carlyle. Ben is the best in the biz and we were constantly advised of that.
Cowbell Creek – Tracey is a super star. The venue is gorgeous! They kept us organised and everything went perfectly to plan
Missy La Belle – florist. Our roses were gorgeous
Michael Vos – Musician
True North Photography
Prostamo Media
Natalie Lucas MUA – AMAZING!
Laura Minogue Hair – AMAZING!
All of our vendors kept us calm and rode the roller coaster with us! We are so grateful for them and as a team they worked seamlessly
