Kelly + Matt

How did you meet?

Matt and I have been friends since middle school but it wasn’t until senior year English class when their love story started to unfold. Matt likes to say he won me over by his stellar Hamlet performance, but that wasn’t the case .

When did you know they were the one?

We started to spend a lot of time together our senior year of college but went to different colleges. We ended up not being able to be apart so visited each other a lot during that time. Looking back it was meant to be since day one but getting older and allowing for distance to make the heart grow fonder helped!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Matt is a hard worker and pushes me to be the best version of myself & is always willing to do math for me (my weak point)

He is personable and kind to everyone and could talk to a wall if he had too

He is driven and always wants to push forward and keep going.

Who proposed and how?

Matt proposed on our boat, one of our places to spend time with each other and our friends. It was what I thought to be a normal sunset boat cruise ended up being the happiest day.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I found a picture of Louie on Pinterest and instantly searched where I could find the dress in stores. Turns out that weekend, Annalise Bridal in Richmond VA was having a MWL trunk show. They were able to squeeze me in for an appointment and instantly (despite trying on other MWL dresses) it was the one. I then had this vision to add the removable skirt for a second look it was everything I ever could have imagined and more.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

The entire reception and spending the night in the dance floor with our closest friends and family was so special. My dad passed away in March of this year and we had a special song attributed to him and requested guest to join us on the dance floor to start the night off and from then, everyone staying on the dance floor.

What were your favourite details?

Of course my dress & having two looks in one.. but also having a something blue sewn into my dress as a piece of my dad to be with me. My flowers were also so incredible and the tree at our ceremony just had me speechless.

What advice would you tell other brides?

DO A FIRST LOOK! It was so worth it to have a special intimate moment with your partner. We then were able to spend time with guest at cocktail hour and not feel pressured during the reception and were able to enjoy ourselves!

Any standout vendors?

My coordinator- Jill Brown with Sunkissed Events the day wouldn’t have run without her, our photographers, Michael & Laura Photography, captured everyone money and are the most down to earth personable people, my florist, Kate Fiore was hands down a vision & our food by East Beach Catering was out of this world.
