Kaylee + Grant

How did you meet?

My husband and I met the summer after my senior year in college. We initially met when I was working at a chiropractic office in a town near where he grew up. Shortly after, I had just moved out of my college house and was planning to move in with some family coincidentally in that same town where he grew up. Turns out he lived less than a half of a mile away from where I moved, and we bumped into each other riding bikes. We began riding bikes together that summer and truly became best friends.

When did you know they were the one?

I knew Grant was the one pretty shortly after I met him. When we first met, my Dad had just been diagnosed with cancer and I was taking that pretty hard. I had barely known him at this point, but he was driving late one night and called me to check on me. We ended up talking on the phone for 3 hours and it felt like I had known him for years.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

He’s so kind. And I mean crazy kind!! He loves people so well. He is also very thoughtful and he has such a positive outlook on life.

Who proposed and how?

On a Sunday afternoon, Grant asked if I wanted to ride bikes to the park and play tennis. We frequently rode bikes and played tennis at this park, so I thought nothing of it. He ended up proposing on the tennis court that afternoon and we celebrated with tacos in the park! It was sweet.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I found my dress at The Bridal Parlour in Shiloh, IL. I had been gushing over Made With Love dresses, so I made sure to find a shop that stocked them. MWL Scottie was the very first dress that I tried on- it was love at first sight!

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

Our day was filled with the best memories, we got married in Florida and had about 95 people (almost all from out of state) travel down to celebrate with us. I would say my favourite moment was at our reception, dancing with my husband and just having the time of our lives with all of our favourite people.

What were your favourite details?

My flowers!! And the beautiful gardens at our venue. I wanted a bit of a tropical flare since we were getting married in Florida, but I didn’t want it to be too crazy. Our florist really hit the nail on the head! The gardens at our venue were breathtaking, The combination made for such beautiful pictures.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Wedding planning and your wedding day can be as enjoyable or as stressful as you make it! I really enjoyed the wedding planning process. I gave myself plenty of time to prepare and I just had fun with it. Don’t take it too seriously!! As far as the wedding day, it’s the craziest but seriously the most amazing day . I have never felt more loved or celebrated. So much is happening, some things may go wrong, and it’s easy to stress about the details, but just try your best to enjoy every moment and be fully present!! It flies by!!

Any standout vendors?

I truly think I hit the jackpot with my vendors- all of them were fantastic!!

Our venue, The Estate On The Halifax was so beautiful and accommodating.

My hair and makeup team, Laura Reynolds Artistry!! I would choose them 1,000 times over again.

And our photographer, Stephanie Velez. She is so sweet and pours her heart into her work.
