Katie + Cody

How did you meet?

My husband Cody and I met 8 years ago at a fast food restaurant! I was eating lunch with my friends, and he was eating lunch with his. I noticed him staring at me when we had walked in, and decided that after lunch I would put my number on his car. To this day, he still has that piece of paper and that started a great adventure for the two of us!

How did you know he was the one?

I knew he was the one when I had decided to go to college 3 hours away, I had said my goodbyes and left for school. I knew that he was going to be my husband one day, and knew I never wanted to say goodbye to him ever again!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

My husband has the most selfless heart, he works harder than anybody I know, and he is so dang funny! Whenever I am down, he knows exactly how I cheer me up.

Who proposed and how?

Cody proposed to me in South Dakota. We had gone on a weekend trip with our friends, and he had asked me to come with him to the bathroom. I clearly blanked because usually I would think that’s weird ha! But to my surprise, we went up the stairs to a patio of lights, candles, and Champaign. He had proposed to me after 8 years of being together!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

A&Be bridal in Denver, Colorado. I did a big reveal with my mom and sisters and future mother in law. We all couldn’t stop crying! I had tried on hundreds of dresses and it only took me a few to try my dress on and fall in love.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

Hands down walking down the aisle and seeing my husband for the first time. It was a moment I will never forget.

What surprised you most at or about your wedding?

That we could actually have it!! Everyone was so happy and pure hearted! Covid has been extremely stressful, and all we wanted was to be married and start our life! It seemed in that day that everything in the world was right and at peace.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Stay strong, confident, and remember that no matter what happens – you are marrying the love of your life!

What was the one thing you did differently for your wedding?

I gave it all to God and let him figure out how it was supposed to go. I did not let the little things get to me and just prayed that we could still get married no matter how big or small. All I truly wanted was to get married and start our life together. I didn’t care if the DJ, flowers, food, or cake tasted, sounded or looked good. A lot of our wedding was very traditional! But as 2020 was a year for being different or out of place, just having a wedding was different haha!
