Kate + Barney

How did you meet?

We met in a pub in London. It was pure luck that we met, I was there with some friends from work, who happened to invite their friends along, and Barney was a friend of theirs. So it was through friends, of friends, of friends that we met. We didn’t speak on the night apart from a brief introduction. The next day I got as message from this guy who had managed to get my number through the friends of friends, and he asked me out for a drink. Clearly we both liked what we saw because just a few days later we went on our first date – and the rest is history!

Who proposed and how?

Barney proposed to me. It was at home, very private and understated which was just want I wanted and it suited us so well. It was a complete surprise and whilst i knew we’d get married one day i wasn’t expecting it one bit. It made the whole thing so magical. We had the most incredible few days celebrating and were still on a high for months after.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

My mum and I went shopping for my dress. We’d been to a few places but still hadn’t found the one. We went to the showroom in Bermondsey in London and I had my eye on the Archie dress. I knew I wanted something simple and elegant, and something I’d look back at in year to come and still love. I wanted a balance between chic and sexy and it struck the perfect balance. I bought it there and then.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Our ceremony. We had a very personal ceremony with a friend as celebrant, 2 readings, 2 friends singing and we wrote our own vows. Every moment was so personal and it was highly emotional. Everyone felt truly like they were part of something so special.

What were your favorite details?

My earrings and shoes. The earrings are hand made orchid flowers from LUA studios in London and they look perfect from every angle. My shoes were Mach & Mach and added to perfect sparkle to a simple elegant dress.

What advice would you tell other brides?

The day goes in a flash. Try and take a moment to absorb it all before it’s over.
Details matter but only you will notice them on the day so don’t stress too much.

Any standout vendors?

All our vendors were incredible. Given that we were planning our wedding through COVID and from the UK (our wedding was in Mallorca), we were heavily reliant on them and had to place full trust. My make up artist was incredible, and the perfect person to keep the calm on the day. She totally got what I wanted to achieve and even though we had to adjust some things on the day with my hair, she made it all look perfect. The florist has a big challenge on their hands with the heat – it was about 38 degrees, so the flowers were wilting very quickly and we had a lot of them so it was very last minute prep. I also wanted bougainvillea as one of the main flowers which is notoriously hard! My photographer was incredible, captured the day perfectly. And the caterers were out of this world – FOSH catering, which is owned by Marc FOSH who has a Michelin star restaurant on the island. The service was incredible and the food was sensational.
