Kate + Allan
How did you meet?
We met almost 11 years ago, both started our first shifts together on the same night at the local pub. It was a Friday night… he definitely caught my eye.
When did you know they were the one?
We developed a friendship first, lots of fun and banter together… then I found myself looking for his name on the roster whenever it came out haha. A few months later it’s safe to say I made the first move haha. We were pretty well inseparable after this. His smile is infectious and presence is fun and calming all at the same time. We did long distance together whilst he played A league soccer and I attended university. We came out the other side stronger than ever. I don’t have an exact moment when I knew he was the one.. but very early on I knew this guy was special, and I never wanted to let him go.
What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?
His positivity and calmness is infectious.
His humour brings a smile to everyone.
He always makes me feel loved.
Who proposed and how?
It was Christmas Eve at my parents house. All of my beautiful family- parents, siblings, nieces and nephews were home for Christmas. Allan proposed in the garden, with a final “surprise gift” with my family all sharing the incredible moment. It was an old Polaroid of us with “will you marry me?” on the back and Allan on one knee behind me. Our song from our long distance period 9 years prior played in the background. The moment was so special and I will never forget it.
Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?
I had been following Made With Love for a while on Instagram.. I had my eye on the Remi and the Harry and a lot of others!! My visit into Adelaide Bridal Collective was incredible. I felt so special the whole time l. The moment I put on the Harry I could imagine marrying Allan in it… and felt so overwhelmed with love to the point of tears. I didn’t end up going to any other shops after this day. I did try on many beautiful made with love numbers though.. but the Harry was the first dress I tried on and the dress I continued to come back to.
What was the best moment for you at your wedding?
All of it. Every single moment.
I couldn’t name one but a few honourable mentions go to walking down the aisle and seeing Allan at the end, and all of our family and friends there to celebrate- such an incredible feeling. Our personalised vows also made the day so special. I loved our photo shoot with the bridal party- couldn’t wipe the enormous smile off my face. And our first dance was also such an incredible moment.
What advice would you tell other brides?
Have fun. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
Be clear with photographers and MCs about time line musts so that they can keep track of timelines. Get a photo with your husband on the Polaroids or disposables that you have at the wedding (if you do). Eat the food! Even if you’re busy. So much money and planning goes into the food but I was too busy to have much/any. Videography was very worth it for me- helps me relive the day!
