Jody + Jared

How did you meet?

On Hinge in NYC during the pandemic. He liked my answer to the question “what is your dream job?” to which I answered “To become a host on The Today Show or a WWE Diva.” We are from neighboring towns in NJ, but never met. We were both living in Manhattan at the time. It was just easy from the very beginning with him.

When did you know they were the one?

It was the week of my sister’s wedding and I thought I may have had COVID. This was during the time in NYC where you had to wait on hours long testing lines to get a COVID test. So I found a testing center in Midtown and got on line at like 7AM. He ran all the way up from his apt in the Village to wait on line with me. He even brought me a coffee. That little gesture went such a long way. He is always showing me he loves me through his actions.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

He is patient. He laughs at my jokes. He is the kindest person I know.

Who proposed and how?

Jared proposed to me. We came back early this Sunday in the summer from the Hamptons to have a little Sunday Funday in Williamsburg Brooklyn where we live. Jared made brunch plans, which is very typical of him, so I thought nothing different. We walked along the water in Domino Park to brunch, which is also very typical. But he detoured us a bit to this little beach area with the most incredible view of the NYC skyline. That’s when I thought something may be up. He told me that he loved days like this with me and wanted to have days like this forever and then got down on one knee. His best friend had been hiding behind a tree to take pics. My family was all waiting at the brunch restaurant to surprise me. It was the best day

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

At Lovely Bride in SoHo in NYC. I actually had already purchased another dress, but just knew in my gut that it was not the one. I went alone to Lovely Bride because I had my eye on Archie online. I always pictured myself in a simple, white form-fitting gown. I tried on Archie and a few others, including Posie, and decided to sleep on it. I couldn’t get Posie out of my head after that! It wasn’t the dress I originally imagined for myself, but it was the one hands down. I loved the detailing and silhouette. It was so whimsical and romantic which was the exact theme I was going for the wedding itself. The 3D florals were just everything! I want to wear it around the house. 🙂

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

The ceremony for sure! It was on a rooftop in Williamsburg, drenched in the golden sun looking out at the NYC skyline. We read our own vows and it was so personal and romantic. Everyone was in tears and laughing at the same time. It felt really intimate and our officiant knocked it out of the park.

What were your favourite details?

My flowers were to die for! We put a ton of effort into the design details of the wedding and it really showed. The venue was absolutely stunning, very industrial Brooklyn, but the bright flowers made it really pop. Everyone was gushing over them and the tablescapes.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Even if things go wrong, just put that behind you and really soak in the happiness of the day. Your hair won’t be perfect, inevitably something will go wrong, but the point of the day is to marry your partner, so keep that in the center of your mind. My friends all told me I was the happiest bride they’ve ever seen and I think it’s because I just let all the little things go and focused on Jared and how lucky we were to have all our loved ones in the same place celebrating our love.

Any standout vendors?

All of them!!! But likely my florist and my band will be remembered most by my guests.
