Jennifer + Conner

How did you meet?

The day after Christmas I flew with my sister/bff (she’s Navy helicopter pilot) to Texas from our parent’s house in WA to visit for 3 weeks before she moved to Florida for her next duty station. Conner, who is also a pilot and close friend of my sister”s (who is now my HUSBAND- woot woot) offered to pick us up from the airport and he made every excuse possible to get coffee, give me a tour of the helicopters, grab lunch together, and we all went to Austin, TX for New Years Eve!

How did you know they were the one?

The second day of visiting my sister, we were with a big group of friends at a hockey game and they played “Sweet Caroline”. Conner stood up and serenaded me in front of everyone. I could not stop laughing and I’ve never met anyone so goofy, fun-loving, and confident all at the same time. At our reception, our friends lifted us up on their shoulders and we sang every word to “Sweet Caroline”

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His sweet and patient soul, his ability to light up the entire room, and his unwavering love for me.

Who proposed and how?

Conner had so many travel proposal plans that came to an abrupt halt with covid. After plans A-E fell through, he proposed at Sunset Cliffs while we were on our way to dinner (4 minutes from our house). He told me we were going to take a sunset picture before heading to dinner since we were already dressed up. Conner proposed with his grandmother’s diamond that he set into a rose gold ring (my favorite). Our friends popped out and surprised us with champagne!

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

The first look. Our photographer had blindfolded Conner and led me (with my eyes closed) until we were standing hand in hand. She counted to three and we opened our eyes at the same time and it was such a beautiful and emotional moment that we got to share with just the two of us.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I had been following MWL on Instagram and every picture I had seen of the Georgie V2 had me swooning! I tried on the Georgie V2 from Lovely Bride in San Diego and new this was the dress for me!

What were your favourite details?

Lush pampas, dried palms, and romantic floral arrangements. It made the day feel like a California dream.

What advice would you tell other brides?

The day really will go by in the blink of an eye! Take time to look around the room and know that every single person there is there for you. Soak up all the love and enjoy all your favorite people being in the same room!

Any standout vendors?

Our photographer Kate Garcia was phenomenal!! She was my hype-girl and calming force when I was going through the pre-ceremony emotional rollercoaster!

Our florist, “ShinDig Chic” arranged the most beautiful flowers and seating chart.

Pam Olson, our day-of coordinator, saved the day with a Tide to Go pen when one of the flowers in my bouquet leaked red water all over the front of my dress. I thought I would be walking down the aisle with a red stain but she made it completely disappear and kept me breathing and calm!
