Jen + Rob

How did you meet?

Rob and I met on our first day at work right after college. We were actually officemates. I have vivid memories of walking into my office on the first day and seeing him sitting at a desk in our small office set up for two. I remember being so disappointed that I was sharing an office (with a guy nonetheless!). We ended up hitting it off and being friends for a few months before anything romantic.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

He’s adventurous, caring, and thoughtful.

Who proposed and how?

Rob proposed, but I knew it was coming. I told him a great spot in Boston to propose was along the Esplanade / Charles River in Cambridge. I said I didn’t want to make a thing of it and he certainly took that to heart! We were walking our dogs on our nightly loop along the river when he started sitting on benches ahead of me (I had the slower dog). I could tell something was up as it took a few bench sits for me to get the hint to sit down next to him and that’s where he pulled out the ring.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I had tried on several dresses at multiple stores and nothing had really clicked. I was actually about to “settle” for another dress before my dress consultant suggested I try on one more dress which happened to be the Elsie Flowy. The pebble color and the fit was absolutely gorgeous on my body. Walking into dress shopping, I knew I would never have my “say yes to the dress” moment, but this was pretty close!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Being surrounded with all of our friends and family to celebrate.

What were your favourite details?

My favorite detail was trying to find little ways to include our dogs on our wedding day. They couldn’t be there in person but we included them on our “drinks are on us” signs.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Do a first look! I thought doing a first look would ruin our moment down the aisle but it didn’t. It calmed my nerves significantly and as a bonus, we had more time to enjoy the cocktail hour because we had already done most of our photos!
