Jemma + Christopher

How did you meet?

Chris and I met through my cousin Ally as they were roommates. I met him while passing through Perth on my way to Melbourne for a concert. When I first met Chris I couldn’t really make my mind up if he was rude or just really shy. We were all sitting outside their unit having a drink and catching up and Chris didn’t come outside and socialise. I later found out that he was just really shy as he slowly made his way outside and sat next to me.

How did you know they were the one?

I always knew from the moment I met Chris that there was something special about him, but it really didn’t hit me until a little later that he was the ONE. I was always trying to keep it light-hearted and fun, not getting too close at first for the fear of being hurt. But he was always the one, deep down I always knew it. His infectious humour and love for life captured me so quickly – he is my best friend

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His sense of humour is probably my favourite. Life is never dull with Chris, he has the same goofy sense of humour as me and when we are together it’s just belly laughs and sore faces all day.
His kindness and compassion. Chris has to be one of the sweetest men I have ever met, not just to me but to everyone around him. He is always an ear to listen and he is always there to offer some friendly advice to everyone. He really cares for everyone around him.

Who proposed and how?

Chris proposed to me on the cliff edge of steep point (the most western point of Australia). Its one of our favourite spots on the WA coast and it was just perfect.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

There are so many good moments at our wedding, it’s very hard to narrow it down to one moment. I have to say one of the best moments was leaving the ceremony with our bridal party and going off to do the photos. They are all such lovely fun people and I love every single one of them. Our photos were just about fun and being silly. After all the important moments of the ceremony were over, so much weight was lifted and we all just had a great time together.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I found my dress at Brides by Design in Perth. They were holding a trunk show and I just fell in love with Carlie. As soon as I put her on with the veil I cried immediately. She was exactly what I was looking for, her neckline and simple but detailed design suited me and my wedding 100%. Carlie is so comfortable to wear and she made me feel so elegant.

What were your favourite details?

I loved so many details, from the 3D lace on my dress and veil, the neutral tones in my flowers, the name place cards for our guests, the grain silo that was turned into a bar, and the brown and rustic tones throughout my wedding.

What advice would you tell other brides?

This day is about you and your partner, take in as much as you can together and don’t sweat the small stuff. Do not let the stress and problems of other people interfere with what you and your partner want.
Also on your wedding night, take a moment to get away from everyone and just be with one another for a bit.
