Hailey + Dan

How did you meet?

I was Dan’s morning barista for awhile. We finally hit it off the day after Christmas at our local bar, two of of best friends brought us together almost 7 years ago; we’ve been inseparable since.

When did you know they were the one?

I had the realization Dan would someday be my husband as I was driving home from his house on a summer night-just that gut feeling that’s impossible to ignore. I remember crying, thinking I was a little crazy for thinking that so soon, but I just knew. Our relationship has always been so genuine, we were able to be our complete selves with each other since day one. Full of fun and trust.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His witty humor.
He’s DAMN good looking.
He’s got a solid heart of gold. He’s the kindest person; a true light in this world. Everyday he makes me want to be a better person.

Who proposed and how?

Dan proposed to me Christmas morning, almost 5 years after dating. We were living together and opening our few gifts just the two of us before going to spend the day with our parents. He had told me there was one last gift hidden for me in the Christmas tree. I searched, while he told me I was ‘getting close’ no matter where I looked. Finally he said ‘oops, I guess I have the gift’. I turned around and he was on his knee. We hugged and kissed and were then jumped on by our sweet but jealous dog, Crash.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

A and Bè in Portland, OR. I had actually originally bought Scottie V1 online through your sample sale and loved her so much. My sister convinced me I needed to go try on dresses ‘just for fun’, A and Bé was the only place I wanted to go (because they carried your line). Louie flowy was the first dress I tried on that day and I instantly fell in love. Louie encapsulated my personality to a T; if I was a dress, it’d be Louie. I love so many things about this dress but the petal lace is by far my favorite.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Dan and I decided to write our own vows and surprise each other at the ceremony, it was actually his idea. I have never felt as loved as I did in the moment he read them to me.

What were your favourite details?

There are so many! But I am so proud of the florals (the ceremony pieces especially) I had at my wedding. I decided to do all of the arrangements myself with dried florals. I put so much time and love into each piece and to be able to have them at our wedding made my heart so happy.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Do whatever YOU want. At the end of the day, it’s about you and your significant other, period. Do what makes you happy, even if it’s completely out of the norm or other people don’t like it, the day is totally about you. And don’t sweat the small stuff. At the end of the day, all that matters is that you’re getting freaking married!!
