Grace + Jason

How did you meet?

We met working for my Auntie in NZ but he had a partner at the time – three years later we both swiped right on tinder and as they say the rest is history!

When did you know they were the one?

It sounds cheesy but ‘when you know, you know’ – I have never felt so in sync with someone, the way I feel with Jase. It’s like we’re in our own world and everyone else is just living in it. We also share the same goals, have shared hobbies and have a similar outlook on life.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

My favourite things about Jase are his kindness and selflessness. He is incredibly smart and talented. He also makes me feel like I am the only woman in the world – which is just the best feeling.

Who proposed and how?

Jase dropped a knee at Watego’s Beach in Byron. I was on holiday with my family and he surprised me – he asked both my parents too which was so sweet!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I had tried on a lot of dresses and wanted something that would be stunning on its own that felt bridal without a train. I wanted to be able to spend the whole day in my dress without the need to get changed and I didn’t want to walk around with a dirty train. I wanted something that was comfortable that I didn’t feel like I had to fix all the time or ‘suck in’. I knew I wanted lace with some type of sleeve with a nude lining. I had tried a lot of dresses on, but none that were quite right and didn’t require a lot of altering. My family lived in NZ and the borders were closed and I didn’t want to try any on without my Mum but my friend was visiting over NY and she kept reminding me I was running out of time! We went to the MWL boutique off the cuff and soon as I walked in, I saw Darcy on the hanger and said out loud ‘that’s the one’.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

My favourite moment was the ceremony and the speeches. We had a family friend prepare a bespoke ceremony for us and it was just perfect.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Don’t stick to tradition or do something because you have to – plan your dream day.
