Emily + Joshua

How did you meet?

Modern-day love story— we met on Hinge

When did you know they were the one?

I knew that Josh was someone that I would want to spend the rest of my life with very early on in our relationship. He has always been so easy to spend time with— always planning new things to do and try. He has a natural tendency to be patient, work hard, and take care of anything and everything

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Josh is patient, he is generous, and he is so loving— he is genuinely good to the core.

Who proposed and how?

Josh proposed to me on his parents’ dock on Seneca Lake in Upstate, NY. After the proposal, our families gathered to celebrate together at a couple of different breweries around the lake. It was simple, easy, and absolutely perfect. I grew up coming to the lake with my family— my grandparents had a cottage on the lake that eventually my father and his siblings inherited with their passing, and my parents now reside there during summers. Being able to celebrate such an important moment there was really special. There was no question that this is where we would be married.

When did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I found my dress at The Lovely Bride in Rochester, NY. I absolutely loved the simple elegance of this dress from the moment I first tried it on! I remember my mom loving the high neckline which confirmed that it was the one. The buttons down the back are the most simple and gorgeous detail.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

The best moment for me was walking down the aisle to Josh with my father by my side. Such a special moment with the two best men in my life.

What advice would you tell other brides?

It is absolutely worth all of the stress, decisions, and communications. Choose vendors that you enjoy, people that you would want to spend the day with— it makes all of the difference. Do not get caught up in the details— at the end of the day it is truly about the people you are surrounded by who are there to celebrate you, above all else.

What were your favourite details?

My favorite detail was the seating chart that Josh and I made together, along with the help of friends and family. We named our tables after some of our favorite places that we shared memories with guests at. It ended up being the most subtle personal touch that guests really enjoyed. Also, my best friend helped with designing signage, menus, invites and save the dates which made for a very sweet personal touch. I loved having her play such a special role in the day.

Any stand out vendours?

All of them! All of our vendors are people that seem to love what they do and they all worked beautifully together which made for such an easy day for Josh and I.
