Elonna + Trey

How did you meet?

We met through mutual friends in high school. We were high school sweethearts, separated in college, and then reunited in grad school and got engaged four years later!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

He’s so loving, unconditionally supportive, and honestly.. the most LIKABLE person I’ve ever met. No one doesn’t like Trey. His humor, wit, and kindness are consuming.

Who proposed and how?

Trey did. He planned a getaway weekend along the east coast. The weekend included rum buckets, frisbee on the beach, spending upwards of $40 in quarters at an old fashioned arcade, and a proposal at a botanical garden (that Trey had rented out for the evening and hired a photographer to be hiding in, in order to capture the moment).

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

VOWS Bridal in Watertown, MA. It’s funny… I hadn’t picked a date or venue yet, and I was actually going back to the bridal shop to try on a different dress for a second time, when I ran across Sadie on the rack. I tried it on, wore it and looked at myself for maybe and hour and finally decided: This dress is absolutely timeless. I could get married any where, in any season wearing this dressing, and I’ll feel incredible about myself in it no matter what. Sadie makes the bride the star. She’s simple, elegant, and elevating.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

The ceremony. One of our best friends married us, and he did an incredible job. It truly felt like the three of us were alone somewhere magical, celebrating and reflecting; sharing vows, readings, and love. It couldn’t have been better.

What surprised you most at or about your wedding?

How fast the time goes. Everyone says it, but being at your own wedding is like having an out of body experience. You could never have sufficient time to truly celebrate your love with your people.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Make time for each other and non-wedding-planning activities in the months leading up to your big day. Free evenings are important. Date nights are important. Don’t forget to remain each others’ priorities, even when it’s hard. You individually and you as a couple are bigger than and more important than this one event and day. Don’t forget that.
