Elli + David

How did you meet?

We met when I was only 16 at a mutual friends party from then on we kept running in to each other and ended up together two years later.

How did you know he was the one?

I spent time away working, studying and travelling but I always couldn’t wait to come back to him. Absence makes the heart grow fonder!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His smile, makes me laugh and can dance!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with my dress at the made with love Sydney boutique. To be honest I loved all of the dresses I put on but the Zylah dress was exactly what I had hoped for in a wedding dress. It was simple and elegant but had the beautiful back detail. The addition of the wings made it extra special.

Who proposed and how?

Dave was planning on proposing on the beach but with crazy weather he ended up getting on one knee after we went out to dinner that night. We then had a beautiful weekend at Bellingen.

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

The day was perfect and I enjoyed every minute. The best moment was soaking it all in together as we snuck out for a few photos during the reception. Having all of our family and friends together for the weekend was also a highlight.

What surprised you most at or about your wedding?

That it was actually able to go ahead. After a crazy, stressful week with covid restrictions changing everyday we were so lucky we were able to have the wedding. It is definitely going to be memorable for everyone and it was one hell of a party before everyone had to go into isolation.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Enjoy every moment! Don’t stress the small stuff because things don’t always go to plan but they may turn out better than you could have expected.

What was the one thing you did differently for your wedding?

My mum is Scottish so we surprised the guests with a piper following the ceremony. Lots of happy tears!! My cousin also surprised us and sang our first dance song. The song was a family favourite and it was so special that she sang it for us. My uncle also had to fly back to America the day before the wedding due to Covid so he recorded a Robert Burns poem he was supposed to read during the ceremony and it was played for us that night.
