Courtney + Jake

How did you meet?

A timeless story, we met at a bar! Unfortunately, it doesn’t exist anymore but after we met, we realized we had a lot more in common than we thought. We aren’t the same age however we figured out we knew A LOT of the same people. How, you ask? We grew up in the same neighborhood, rode the same school bus, went to the same school but somehow never “met” until after we were both well out of college.

When did you know they were the one?

This sounds absolutely crazy but the night he asked me to be his girlfriend I knew I was going to be with him forever. I specifically had a conversation with him about how if I said yes, it wasn’t for fun, it was forever and somehow that didn’t scare him away. He committed himself to me then and we haven’t been a part since.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His devotion to me and our families, his unwavering work ethic and just how laid back he is.

Who proposed and how?

He proposed, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming on his birthday trip. We started a yearly tradition with some friends to go on a yearly trip right after New Year’s to celebrate some birthdays, so we decided to stay in the United States (#covidpandemic) and celebrate in one of the coldest places that time of year. It was -11 degrees F, and he got down on one knee under the elk antler arches in the middle of town after a day of snowmobiling and ice skating in one of the most picturesque places in the country.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with my dress in Lovely Bride – Charlotte. I had my best friend, my mom, and my mother-in-law there with me to celebrate the day. I wanted something timeless but unique and I felt like it was literally me in dress form.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

The best moment for me was the moment right after the ceremony when my husband and I had a quick moment right before our friends and family came back down the aisle where we were able to just be together. It was brief but it was exactly what we needed.

What were your favourite details?

I loved that my husband’s suit didn’t match the rest of the groomsmen, I loved that I was able to incorporate my favorite color into the whole event, and I love that I was able to achieve my simplistic design ideas and it really coming to life.

What advice would you tell other brides?

In the end, those details that seem to be so stressful in the planning times – DO NOT MATTER! What matters most is you and your partner committing yourselves to each other with those closest to you present if you choose. Everything else, doesn’t matter.
