Courtney + Andrew

How did you meet?

Andrew and I met sophomore year of college in organic chemistry lab. We became friendly that semester and then started dating shortly after we studied abroad together in Copenhagen, Denmark!

When did you know they were the one?

It honestly felt like it was love at first sight for me. When we studied abroad together in Denmark, we were able to form a really special friendship and I had an inkling at that time that he might be my person for life! After college, we went off to separate medical schools but were able to make the long distance work. I knew if we could get through that stressful time period, that we could make it through almost anything!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Andrew is so funny- he constantly makes me laugh. He is supportive and extremely loving. He is simply a wonderful human being and the best partner I could have asked for.

Who proposed and how?

Andrew proposed!! He proposed in our apartment. He was waiting for me to come home from work and he had our living room decked out with candles and flowers. He dressed our dachshund in a tux and top hat. It was the most special and intimate proposal. The funny thing about it is that I was supposed to get home around 5pm but got stuck at work until 9pm, so the poor guy had to sweat it out for 4 hours until I made it home!!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I initially saw a picture Carla on Instagram and fell in love with the beautiful lace/floral details (legit heart eyes for it). I went to White Dress by the Shore in Connecticut, USA so I could try her on! I loved her so much but then the bridal consultant had me try on Carlie and it was game over. I fell in love with the French crepe and was so happy to have that beautiful floral detail on top! As soon as I put that dress on, both my mom and sister also knew it was the dress for me!

What was the best moment for you at the wedding?

I think the best moment for me was getting to walk down the aisle towards Andrew. I first off loved the special moment when it was just my dad and I before we walked out and then finally being able to get down the aisle to my hunny was just the best. At one point in the night I also just took a step back and took everything in. It was overwhelmingly beautiful to see so many of our loved ones in the same place, having so much fun and just being able to celebrate our love with them!

What were your favourite details?

My favourite details were for sure our personal ones. My older brother passed away about 1 year before my wedding so we made sure we honoured him in any and every way we could. We had a beautiful portrait of him out on our memory table along with a boutonnière laid out for him. Our band also played a special song in his memory. On a lighter note, we also had signature drinks named after our 2 miniature dachshunds with an awesome signature drink sign made for the day– the Penny Paloma and Oscar’s Old Fashioned!

What advice would you tell other brides?

Just to enjoy every single second of the day!! It can go by in an instant so just take a few moments throughout the day to take it all in!

Any standout vendors?

Our band was seriously amazing and such a steal for the price-Silver Arrow Band. My photographer went above and beyond. Hair and makeup were on point! I was also obsessed with the florals for the day
